Hello,
All I know about Troum except from what is on their site is what they made
for the french fanzine Feardrop (same issue as the one with EIG on it, I'm
not sure about that) which is an interview + a piece of music on the free CD
which is sold with the magazine (issued in 2005) the people from Feardrop
might be on this list by any chance, and they should know a lot more about
Troum...

Objet : [eyeless] Re: To a Child, Dancing in the Wind CD
Hi all,
have just listened to my copy of the Martyn Bates/Troum CD,which
arrived yesterday. As almost always with Martyn's releases, I find it
quite amazing. Stylistically it's somewhere along the lines of
"Chamber Music" (rather than of "Murder Ballads"), but the music is
much more complex and the pieces are allowed to develop much more. The
sounds and drones provided by Troum are truly beautiful and deep, but
never 'lulling', and Martyn plays a marvellously intense (and quite
dissonant) melodica solo on the otherwise instrumental 'The Magi'. A
wonderful and truly majestic record!
The only complaint I have is that the name of W.B.Yeats is mentioned
nowhere on the cover, and that some of the poems reprinted contain
quite a few spelling mistakes (naaargh...he's my favourite writer in
English!) Well, nevertheless, a gorgeous tribute to the poet.
Has anyone else here heard other works by Troum? Their work on "To a
child" really intrigues me.
Best
Thomas
