It is just a myth ;-) ... well, I don't know what will happen with it
right now .. it is a collection of archive material previously
unreleased apart from the song Talking Mythic Language. Some songs were
played live several times and 2-3 of them appear on the released video
in live format. Half of the album (in terms of length) is made up of
more improvised pieces. One song was played in a radio show once. On
the whole a good album and much more coherent than the Orange Ice & Wax
Crayons. Orange Ice might have had some even better tracks, but also
had worse material than on this album. I do not have a remastered album
though and such is necessary if should be meaningful to release it. I
initially had very little money to pay for this and thus I was not
quick on pushing ahead for its release and when I eventually did,
Martyn was too busy and time went by ... .

I am still also not totally clear on the process of obtaining
permission from copyrights protecting institutions for making a proper
release -- I have received many contradictory statements from people
(like Alan Trench of WSD) and institutions (copyright protectors here
in Sweden). Normally one should (here in Sweden, at least) pay like at
least an Euro per CD to be produced in advance to the Copyright
protectors to be able to obtain an official number without which
pressing plants will refuse to press the disc (most pressing plants
anyway as they are not allowed to press discs otherwise). That is a
substantial obstacle to getting a disc released and totally unwarranted
as the artists will not benefit from this, even though that is the
supposed purpose of the process. Martyn said it was important to get
copyright on the recordings this way, but Alan said only the artists
themselves can secure copyrights through these institutions. So maybe
it is just a fee for being able to press the records that these
instituions wants from me ... . Martyn told me that such a fee should
not be necessary t pay, since WSD never had to do it -- it was enough
that (somehow) the copyright institutions got a signed letter from the
artist allowing the pressing (which would be nice, if it was true ....
but it does not appear so ...). Any input on this ? (I have talked with
a band (Twice a Man) here in Sweden also and they usually... had to pay
a fee in advance for making a release... .)

I don't think there is a problem buying CDs from established dealers on
the web ... I bought the Hand/Eye compilation myself directly from the
producers: (see announcement on the Martyn web site). I just recently
listened to Martyn's contribution there and it is a really good piece!
I just finished this weekend transferring all I have with Martyn Bates
solo to an iPod I bought through my job.... -- now I just ve to
re-record and fix all Eyeless live stuff ... . (with Lame mp3 encoding
it sounds quite fine imo....)

Cheers,
Jerry

P.S. Yes, I suggested a live release to Martyn a few years back and he
liked the idea, but was not sure there was enough good quality material
to have a really good release ... .
