PEOPLE! I recently talked to Coko from SWV and the interview was cool. Coko was
real open and honest and we had a good conversation. Here is a portion of the
interview. For the full interview, check me out at

You were part of one of the most popular female groups of the nineties. Was it
really the glory everyone thought it was?
Umm-- no! Really because we didn’t feel it. We didn’t get the respect that we
thought we should have gotten, so to us we felt—underrated. It’s just—today it’s
more like we realize oh we were really doing somethin something back then, but
at that time, no we didn’t think so. We felt like we were struggling and
couldn’t get put on.
So do you think outsiders was part of the demise of the group?
Oh yeah definitely cause we each had somebody in our ears doing there little
talking and stuff and so that can get to you and it got to us.
Was there anything else that made you all get tired of what you were doing?
I don’t think we were ever tired of what we were doing. We would have loved to
keep going on but when you don’t have that support system and you got people
just mainly, ‘Why she singing everything?’ and then that gets everybody’s wheels
turning like ‘yeah why is she singing everything?’ So it was real cool in the
beginning but when people start talking and getting in your ear you know you
can’t help but to start really start thinking that kind of stuff.
