Hi,
Thanks Christopher for the posting on the broadcast of the Pearl
Fishers (which I also unfortunately will miss, but at least I saw it
in person); it's Saturday May 15, though, not May 17, which is a
Monday. That's according to the program, which says it's on at 1:30
p.m. (eastern time, of course). It should be well worth listening to.
Mr. Gunn is doing a program of Mahler, Ives, and Copland with the NY
Philharmonic later this month -- if you go to their website there's a
brief but interesting interview with him in which he discusses the
songs. You have to go to the Ives festival, then find his concert,
and then click on something else at the side; it takes a bit of
searching but it's not too difficult to find, especially if you're
sitting at work bored out of your mind . . . .
And the (very skimpy) bio in the Pearl Fishers program says that Gunn
will be singing Gugliemo in the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York
this summer -- no dates given but their website would have all the
information. So it looks as if those close to New York will get a
couple of chances to hear him live.
