I happened to be reading the NY Times yesterday (Thursday July 5) and
came across this paragraph, almost at the very end of Alan Riding's
article on the Aix-en-Provence Festival ("Adding a Roof Raises the
Ceiling for a French Festival's Ambitions"):
"The new Nozze di Figaro, directed by Vincent Boussard, has a festival
regular, Daniel Harding, conducting the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. And
while the decor is as austere as that of the Ring [des Nibelungen; most
of the article is about the new Walkure production], delightful
costumes by Christian Lacroix offer visual compensation. In a
production that leans toward farce, Nathan Gunn as Count Almaviva
stands out among the soloists."
That's pretty much all about Nozze in the article, except for a mention
of the opening night rain-out. Nice mention of Gunn, though.
