Early Summer Celtic Music   Message List

Hi FiddleSticks folk and friends,

There may be fresh snow on the foothills (and there certainly was plenty in
Northern California last week during our concert tour!) But the early
Summer music scene is well underway. Here are some upcoming public
performances for FiddleSticks, including Spring City, SLC, Utah Valley, and
even Idaho:

SPRING CITY:
Saturday, May 25: noon
Spring City Historic Home Tour
Lunch Music at the Bowery
Old Spring City School
100 East and Center Street, Spring City

Spring City is a pioneer town that time has passed by. It contains an
amazing wealth of historical pioneer era homes, gardens, and farms, and 25
of them will be open to the public for the Tour. The whole town’s
recognized as a National Historic District. FiddleSticks will be playing
for the Lunch at the Bowery, with proceeds supporting local youth programs.
Plus there’s an Art and Antique sale in the Old School. Don’t miss it.

Directions: Spring City is in Sanpete County in Central Utah, just off
Highway 89, between Mt. Pleasant and Ephraim.

SALT LAKE CITY:
Tuesday, June 4: noon
Gallivan Center “Lunch Bunch” Concert
239 South Main Street, SLC

The Gallivan Center in Salt Lake hosts free lunchtime music all summer long.
Invite your friends, co-workers and clients for lunch and come over for
the outdoor show. Bring your brownbag or enjoy the local deli and take-out
fare. For info: (801) 535-6110

SPRINGVILLE:
Saturday, June 8: 8pm
Springville Art City Days
Music Stage
Springville Arts Park Amphitheater
1250 E 620 South, Springville

Come enjoy some great local acoustic folk music in Springville’s wonderful
amphitheater. Warmup bands will get the crowd going at around 6pm, with the
main show taking off about 8pm. Besides the Celtic fusion of FiddleSticks,
look for the Contemporary Acoustic Bluegrass sounds of McKenzie Bridge and
Lincoln Highway.

OREM:
Saturday, June 15: 4-5pm
Orem Summerfest
Main Music Stage
Orem City Park (about 200 East 100 North)

The Annual Orem Summer Festival, called Summerfest, includes music all day,
plus races, games, rides, food, baby contest, all kind of family fun. The
music stage is going to be great, but if you can’t be there all day, come
over at 4pm for sure! Then stay in Orem for our next show, at 7pm for TICS
(see the next listing...)

OREM:
Saturday, June 15: 7pm
Opening for DAVID ROTH
Timpanogos Intimate Concert Series
647 North 1280 East, Orem

FiddleSticks will open for the amazing singer-songwriter David Roth. David
is an extraordinary performer. He’s an old friend of ours from our
Washington DC days, now living in Massachusetts. His songs tell stories,
and he’s highly original, occasionally hilarious, and always
thought-provoking contemporary acoustic music. He’s got a unique voice,
full of goodness and virtue and excellence. You’ll be inspired, amused,
amazed, uplifted. Plus he’s a virtuoso guitarist. Don’t miss this
remarkable show! For directions or information see TICS' web page at
http://come.to/timpanogos or call Boyd Petersen at 375-4072). Tickets are $8
at the door. Check out David’s webpage at
http://www.folkera.com/windriver/davidroth/index.html

IDAHO:
Friday, June 21: 8-10pm
Somerfield Midsummer's Eve Bardic Festival
Somerfield Manor
8890 Maughan Rd
Lava Hot Springs, ID 83426

Somerfield Manor is an interactive medieval living history farm, designed to
show you what life was like in Europe 700 years ago. The Midsummer’s Eve
Bardic Festival features storytelling, chivalry, singing, dancing, silly
costumes, medieval food and refreshments. Not to mention FiddleSticks’
Celtic music, with roots in ancient Europe. Come slay a dragon, rescue a
maiden, or otherwise take part. Plus, at midnight, if you jump over the
bardic bonfire with your true love, you are guaranteed a year of happiness!
Admission $5. For info, call (208) 776-5429 or visit
www.somervillemanor.org.

Directions: From I-15 in southern Idaho, take exit 47, for McCammon Rd.
Turn east on Hiway 30, proceed 9 miles, than turn south (left) on Maughan

addition of 6 string fretless bass and a full drum kit on some tunes.

"Time and Again" is cutting-edge FiddleSticks.

"This new album is a knockout! The others are great but this one sounds like
they're bustin’ out of the studio!"

"Time and Again has so much energy! The playing is really expressive and
the arrangements are brilliantly woven."

"A whole new animal!"
