We're off to a busy start here in FiddleSticks Central. Here's what's up
with us in June around Utah. And if you have friends in the Midwest, have a

Started in 1937 with a amazing depression-era effort by the citizens, the
Museum now houses the most comprehensive collection of Utah art in the
state, as well as a surprisingly eclectic display of other works, including
Russian paintings. The Museum also sponsors Sunday evening music, and
FiddleSticks is on stage next. The show is upstairs in the “Performance
Gallery, and it’s free to the public. Great Sunday afternoon activity – Be
there! For information call the gallery at 489-2727 or organizer Earlene
Hodgkinson at 489-9578.

SALT LAKE CITY
Friday, June 20, 7pm
FCMA Pearl Awards Ceremony
Cottonwood High School
5717 South 1300 East
Salt Lake City
The “Pearl Awards” are something like the Utah Grammys. We may already have
modestly informed you that FiddleSticks got FOUR final nominations this
year, including two best song nomination, best album, and best recording
group. So we’re excited to be at the event -- so maybe it will be our big
day!
PLUS, let us now modestly tell you that we’ve been invited to perform on
stage during the event. So come cheer us on. FREE general admission
tickets are available to our fans on a “first-come, first-served
basis.”You’ll get to see just about everyone who’s anybody in LDS popular
music, enjoy some cool live performances, and no doubt several bad puns and
a stilted script! But that’s all part of the fun.
This event is more than a concert, it’s a televised gala, and the audience
members are also part of the “cast.” So the producers request “black tie”
formalwear, or at least dark jackets/dark colors. To order tickets, please
e-mail FCMA@..., or call (801)355.1771.
SALT LAKE CITY
Saturday, June 21, noon

going to be better than ever, in a new improved location at the Brand New
Library grounds. We’re starting off the music on the Park Stage on Saturday
at noon. Then stick around for the whole event. All kinds or performance,
music, and visual art, all in one place. There’s nothing else like it!

The family Celtic band FiddleSticks presents an energetic fusion of
traditional music with contemporary jazz and folk elements. The band is made
up of three sisters, Becca, Katie and Elizabeth Davis, and their dad, Marco.
They have been playing together as "FiddleSticks" since around 1996. (Oldest
sister Becca, flute/whistle player and vocalist, is "on leave" this week on
her honeymoon.)
FiddleSticks keep up a busy performing schedule, with over 50 performances a
year in Utah and throughout the West. They have been appointed four times to
the Utah Arts Council Performing Arts Tour, are three-time Pearl Award
finalists, and have five CD recordings to their credit. FiddleSticks'
energetic dance reels, sultry love songs, plaintive ballads, and lively jigs
played on fiddle, cello, guitar, drum and hammer dulcimer are a favorite of
local audiences.
FiddleSticks have five recordings in print: The Sampler (1998), Playing
Favorites (1999), Cold Fusion (2000), Time and Again (2001), Cat and the
Fiddle (2002) and a new project underway: "Return to Nauvoo" (a collection
of folk hymns), due to be released in late 2003.
CDs are available at all performances, in Utah bookstores, online at
www.fiddle-sticks.com, or by mail order ($15 for CDs, $10 for cassettes,
plus $2 per order shipping and handling). Buy 2 CDs and get a cassette for
free – just ask!
