Hi folks,
We just wanted to let you know, modestly, that at last Friday's Pearl Awards
ceremony, FiddleSticks carried off the award for Best Contemporary
Instrumental Recording. The award was for our tune "See Spot Run," which is
on our Cat and the FIddle album.
The Pearl Awards are something like the Utah Grammys, and while we've made
final nominations before, this is the first time we've pulled off an actual
win. (We were also nominated this year for best contemporary instrumental
album, best inspirational tune (for "Adam Ondi Ahman") and best recording
group.)
In our "acceptance speech" (our 30 seconds of fame) I tried to accept on
behalf of our fellow family bands, acoustic musicians and other
non-commercial, non-produced performers of authentic music. This is a
wonderful, fun thing we do, and we're so fortunate to do it as a family.
And we thank you, our friends, for your support.
We also were one of 9 groups to perform during the show. The whole Pearl
Ceremony will be broadcast on TV later in July. We'll let you when. You
can read more about he Pearl Awards at www.pearlawards.org.
Thanks friends, and keep listening!
Marco
