Mission Statement: The Florida Banjo Society (FBS) is a group of musicians, music-loving friends, and banjoists who have organized to promote old-time banjo playing and culture (such as it is) in the state of Florida and beyond. Specific to this mission, we are dedicated to holding a yearly old-time banjo contest. We will strive to conduct this in conjunction with the Stephen Foster Folk Cultural Heritage Center at the Florida Folk Festival. We will strive to have the winner of our contest recognized as the Old-Time Banjo Champion of the State of Florida. Our group also welcomes and encourages other styles of banjo playing (bluegrass). We like to hear from members and non-members alike. Please feel free to contact any of the officers with suggestions and comments.
This is the Florida Banjo Society's discussion area. Archives of contest results, festival info, and photos are available to all.
