I remember talking with Bela about this shortly after he returned from Africa (4
years ago?) at the Black Banjo Then and Now Gathering weekend in Boone, NC. He
also jammed at that weekend event with some of the Africans in attendance.
Al, do you know what format this $250 rental is? Is it a DVD? I would guess that
at that rental fee, it might by 35mm sound film, in which case you'd need to
round up a 35mm theatrical projector and compatible sound system. It's possible
it is a 16mm print, however, and such gear is a lot easier to find.
Thanks for researching all this,
Kerry

"Because this film seems to deal with the banjo's roots in Africa, I thought it
would be of interest to our group. Given that West Palm Beach is a long ways
away, I have found out that the film can be rented for $250.
I am considering having a showing at my house kinda like a house concert. If I
got 25 people at $10 each it would break even. ANy profits could go to the banjo
society.
I live in Jacksonvile, which again is not a central location.
ANyone interested in coming to Jacksonville to view to view the film or would
someone like to host this in a better location?"
