Just to say hello, really...
I really got into No-man in 1994 through a magazine called WIRE which
had an interview with the band + a free cd sampler attached featuring
2 tracks from the album Flowermouth and 2 from Bowness/Barbieri's
Flame.
I actually discovered them in 1991 with the song "Days in the Trees"
constantly playing on the radio (I lived in France at the time).
I have a query here...This Yahoo Group is called Flowermouth, right?
For the last 2 years I've been trying to get hold of a track called
Flowermouth which I think was released very early in No-man's career
on a tape (or was it a cd ?) ep titled "Swagger". I checked the no-
man site and the lyrics for the song are there but the ep has long
been deleted... Would anyone here be in possession of that track? Can
you help?
Has anyone listened to Tim Bowness? Peter Chilvers album "California,
Norfolk" ? What a masterpiece!

Hi There! I just want to say that I have not
forgotten this club. I have been going through some hard
times lately:( but I am getting back into the groove of
things! I will be posting within the next day or two!

Love,
Marla
Just a note to say hi to everyone!

I was
wondering if there is anyone out there who has any of the
early No-Man single releases on CD that would be
willing to trade a copy with me?

check out
www.thelamia.freeserve.co.uk to see if there is anything to interest
you.

Cheers

I just sighed up. So tell me, what goes on in here? I really like Porcupine Tree
and am interested in SW's other projects. ANy hope of buying some of the No-Man
stuff in the States?
Hey everyone:

Just want to let everyone
know that the new, revamped No-man website is up! It
looks great! I do have one suggestion, BRIGHTEST BLUE
is missing on the lyric page:( But everything else
looks sharp! It would be wonderful if there were more
pictures of the band to see!

I am wondering why
this club doesn't seem to have much going on. I want
all of you guys to start talking about No-man and
anything else that is on your mind. I am hoping that we
can all share a little bit of ourselves and get to
know one another.

My life is going well at the
moment. I am working for AmeriCorps as a literacy
tutor/teacher for first through third graders. It's been
difficult, coming up with lesson plans and the like. I don't
have an education background...but if this proves to
be a good experience, I am thinking about going back
to college and getting my teaching license or a
Masters in Education. Right now, I am servicing over 30
kids a day, and they are all wonderful!

Please
write to this club, and let me know how all of you are
doing, and what you are thinking about
No-Man...

Ciao,

Marla
hi marla/heaventaste:

thanks for the warm
welcome to your no-man club. i'm a 39 year old guy near
detroit who works in the record industry. i've been a
loyal fan of no-man/porcupine tree since i first read
about no-man (about the time of flowermouth) in a
wonderful english music magazine called wire. the fact that
robert fripp guested on the album convinced me it had to
be added to the collection as i'm a fripp
completeist. i wasn't disappointed by my purchase and have
become a huge fan of no-man/p-tree. they are among my
personal favorites.

as for a favorite
song...uh...can't pick one. too hard to pick just one. my head
would explode from thinking about it so
hard.

hope the room is a smashing
success!

later,
dave/b2bstanleycups
Hello there!
Just wanted to say welcome to the
club. There hasn't been a lot of activity going on
here, but I'm hoping that will change soon. How did you
hear about No-man? What is your favorite No-man
track.

BTW, my name is Marla. I am 26 years old, living in
Oregon. I've just finished my BA in Writing and
Literature. If you want to know more, take a peek at my
profile.

Nice to have you aboard!

Marla
Hi everyone,
I am not sure why there isn't a
lot of activity going on. It worries me:( I created
the questionnaire as a means to get everyone to get
to know everyone else.:) Guess it didn't work:( I
would really like to see some discussion going on! So
don't be shy, get to writing!

Marla
hello everybody for those who would love to
see
the front cover of this rare vinyl (plass012)
take
a look at my photos album to
see "no man is an
island " first ep of 1989
with:
tim bowness,steven
wilson, the still owl and ben coleman.

jean manuel
Hi Guys,
I guess my intial questionnaire was
to long so here is the second half of my
response.

11. Are you married, divorced, have a significant
other?
A. Never been married. Don't have a significant
other though I am working on it. Still wondering if Tim
is available...

12. Do you have any
children?
A. No, I don't have any children. But would like to
have a few once I stumble upon Mr. Right.

13.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. I
spend a lot of my time thinking about life and where I
am headed. I also spend my time taking care of my
parent's house (yes I live at home) since I am not working
at the moment. I am looking to work temporarily for
a few months. I am hoping to be joining the
AmeriCorps this August. My application is being
reviewed.

14. Have you travelled? If so, where?
A. Yes, I've
been to England twice and Wales once. While I was in
England, I was able to see where my father was born and
grew up, in Derby, which was cool. I love England, and
wouldn't mind living there sometime.

15. What is
your passion in life?
A. Either music or writing.
Maybe just life in general.

16. What do you want
to accomplish in life?
A. I think like everyone
else on the planet I want to love and be loved
wholeheartedly. I also want to be independent, and I want to have
some fun while I am young. Eventually I want to be
married, have a few children, have a career. Right now,
I'd settle for getting my bills paid off and having
my special someone fall head over heels in love with
me. But sometimes, Love is only dreaming.

17.
What is the best thing that has happened to you so far
in life?
A. I've just finished my BA in Writing
and Literature!!

18. Do you like the new
RETURNING JESUS cd?
A. I love it! I do wish however,
that they could've put some new music on the cd. A few
of the songs on the album were previously
released.

19. What do you find most attractive in a mate?
A.
I think a person's personality and outlook on life
can either make or break attraction. I like men who
are positive, confident, and know what they want in
life. I also find a sense of humour attractive, along
with spirituality.

20. Anything you want to say
to me or the site?
A. Uh...no! Hi MARLA!! HI
EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's my answers:)

1. What is it that
intially attracted you to No-man?
A. It would have to
be Tim's voice. I had (and still have not) heard
quite anything like it. Tim's voice is the type that
picks me up when the world is a mess. Tim's voice is
the one that seduces my senses and helps me believe
that true love still exists in this crazy world. I
also fell in love with the lyrics that Tim writes.
Very deep, romantic and sincere. I like
honesty.

2. Have you ever seen No-man or any other related
project live?
A. No I have not had the opportunity:(
but I am hoping that somehow that will
change.

3. What is your favorite No-man song? Why?
A.
Wow, this is a hard one to answer. My favorite song at
the moment is "Lighthouse." When I first bought
"Returning Jesus" I must have listened to "Lighthouse" 25
times repeatedly. I can sense the desire and the
passion in the song and the lines "Come to me and make it
special/Come to me and make it real/Come to me and make me
feel" just reach into my heart and let me dream a
little.

4. What is one thing that No-man has taught you
through their music?
A. Hmmmm...that I am not the only
romantic still left in the world! LOL! I like the honesty
found in the lyrics and the music itself. Its all about
the realities of emotions and what happens to them
when you express them to someone. Those emotions
either grow, or die off, or we suffer until we let them
go. Love is always a risky venture.

5. Has
any No-man song helped you through a difficult time
in your life(ie. a breakup with a girlfriend or
boyfriend, loss of a loved one?)
A. Many of the No-man
songs have helped me through breakups, or helped me try
and woo someone that I very much wanted. No-man's
music accurately communicates my thoughts and feelings
to special people at special times. No-man reminds
me that passionate loving is one of life's wonderous
joys but with it comes much potential to
suffer.

6. What inspires you about No-man?
A. Everything.
What is there not that doesn't inspire me?!

7.
Does anyone know if Tim Bowness is married?
A. I
don't know, that is why I am asking! Knowing my luck,
he's probably gay! LOL!

8. Does anyone know if
No-man has played live in the states?
A. Again, don't
know. That is why I am asking.

9. If No-man was
a colour, what colour would they be?
A.
Brightest Blue

10. What are your interests?
A.
Music, art, literature, writing, poetry, travel,
shopping at thrift stores, movies, travel, internet,
friends, dancing, clubs, karoake. I also enjoy camping,
the outdoors, ocean, fishing, crabbing, and hanging
out with family.
Hi everyone,
I've been thinking and would
like to have anyone who is interested complete the
following questionnaire. I think this might help all of us
get to know one another and get some conversation
going.

1. What is it that intially attracted you
to No-man?

2. Have you ever seen No-man or
any other related project liv?

3. What is your
favorite No-man song? Why?

4. What is one thing
that No-man has taught you through their
music?

5. Has any No-man song helped you through a
difficult time in your life (ie. a breakup with a
girlfriend or boyfriend, loss of a loved one?)

6.
What inspires you about No-man?

7. Does anyone
know if Tim Bowness is married?

8. Does anyone
know if No-man has played live in the
states?

9. If No-man was a colour, what colour would they
be?

10. What are your interests?

11. Are you
married, divorced, have a significant other?

12. Do
you have any children?

13. What do you enjoy
doing in your spare time?

14. Have you
travelled? If so, where?

15. What is your passion in
life?

16. What do you want to accomplish in

Marla
My favorite No-man album is Loveblows &
Lovecries-A Confession. It was the first No-man album I
bought & I played it constantly for months. Sweetheart
Raw still sends a chill down my spine eveytime I hear
it. As for a favorite track off the "Returning Jesus"
album , I'm with you on that. It has to be Lighthouse.
All the other tracks are excellent but Lighthouse
just oozes class.
David Sylvian is my favourite
artist though , by a long way. Brilliant Trees is also
my favourite album of all time.

Cheers

Scott
hi marla !
the most early no-man i found,it's
"the girl from misssouri" 12"vinyl. tracks; girl from
missouri;
forest almost burning ; night sky sweet earth ;
ballet beast.Very rare indeed!
Not being entirely
happy with the EP, tim and Steven destroyed
many
copies of it, so there are very few in existence.
"swagger" ep only exist 150 copies in cassttes
tracks :
flowermouth ; life is elsewhere ; bleed ;
mouth was blue
.

jean
Man, you guys are going to think I am stupid for
replying to my own post!! OK...No-Man is NOT (I repeat
NOT) going on tour. It is Steven Wilson's Porcupine
Tree that is playing in Philly.

Disappointedly
yours,

heaventaste
aka
Marla
Hi Scott,

What is your favorite No-man
album and what is your favorite track off the
"Returning Jesus" album?

My heart soars when I hear
"Lighthouse." I just love Tim singing "Come to me and make it
special." So haunting:)So sensual! I have a thing for Tim
if you haven't noticed:) hehehe
*DROOL*

Marla
aka
heaventaste
Jean, what is the "Swagger" ep?? I don't know if
I have ever heard of it! What songs are on it? I
haven't sen the "taking it like a man" cd single. Sorry.
But, you may want to keep an eye on Ebay, they
sometimes get some real cool No-man albums up for
auction.

Hey JEAN!! I found a place that has the single you
are looking for:)go to this
url:
http://www.gemm.com/
and
do a search for No-man. You should see "Taking it
Like a Man" (Radio edit) on cd near the bottom of the
page for $17. Looks like Gemm has some other cool
No-man items as
well...

Marla
aka
heaventaste
Jean,
I am not that familiar with David
Sylvian. I have a few of his tracks, but not much! I also
hear that Robert Fripp is another excellent artist,
but alas..I don't hear much of him either. Tell me,
what is the best stuff by David Sylvian in your
opinion?

Marla
aka
heaventaste
Hi everyone,
I just heard via the No-man
e-mail list that No-man is going to be playing live in
Philadelphia, PA!! I am not sure when and where, but I will
find out and let everyone know!

There's a
rumour going around that they may tour in America, let's
keep our fingers (and toes) crossed!!

Excitedly
yours,
Marla
aka
heaventaste
Dear Jean,
How are you? Yeh, I am getting a
bit worried because this club is so quiet! I don't
know why it is, considering there are so many things
to think about when it comes to No-Man!

On
your project that you are working on, "No-man is an
Island," is it a compilaton of all of No-man's early stuff
or is it an album full of other artists doing No-Man
songs? The only early No-Man song that I have is "Ocean
Song" which I absolutely adore. I found it on vinyl via
E-bay! I almost had a heart attack when I saw it listed
for auction! That record is very hard to
find!

Jean, whereabouts in France are you? I live in Oregon,
USA. I have never had the opportunity to visit France.
The closest I got was England:), where my father is
originally from.

It is difficult locating any No-man
albums besides "Loveblows and Lovecries: A Confession"
here in Oregon. I was lucky to find what I
have:)

If you ever want to talk, feel free to message me. I
am on Yahoo Messenger a lot of the
time.

Marla
aka
heaventaste
