Re: [Flute Pastels] New flute enthusiast w/ a problem...*puzzled*

Ditto to all the advice so far (well most of it anyways!) I play on
an inline G and don't have any wrist hand problems - it's like
everything - if it's done right - it wont hurt. Even if you have
small hands (I do too!!) but it probably is better to start on
closed hole, offset G. My advice is to buy the best you can afford
to save you having to upgrade soon after. My experience with adult
learners is that they progress wuickly with help from the right
teacher and you may find that you 'out grow' a basic flute very
quickly.

There was a previous post that likened some of our advice to
Ferarris etc - I don't think that was the intention and Miyazawa do
do student models - as do most of the 'big makers'. They are worth
trying - don't write anything off without trying it and taking
advice from a flute player/teacher (not the shop assistant or seller
as they have a vested interest in selling you something!!)

Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

Carole

If you plan on playing seriously do not get the keys in line. It can hurt you hands badly. Open holes help improve your tone and encourage proper technique. I...
