no - I received a bottle of Glen Moray 12 year Single Malt and had to
think of Carole up there in Elgin!

Reviewing classical CDs as I do these days, I've come across some new
names which might provide stuff in this period: Cesare CIARDI
(1818-1877) wrote a Gran Concerto in D major, Op. 129 (c.1859), L'Eco
dell'Arno, Op. 34, Il carnevale di Venezia, Op. 22 (yes indeed, but
not quite as much fun as the Chenin!), Le Rossignol du Nord, Op. 45,
Un sospiro del cuore, La Smorfiosetta, Di Chi? and the Piccola
fantasia su 2 Stornelli napoletani. There are some arrangements of
works by Mauro GIULIANI (1781-1829): Gran Duetto Concertante Op. 52,
Franz SCHUBERT (1797-1828), Waltzes (from Op. 9) (arr. A. Diabelli),
Ludwig van BEETHOVEN (1770-1827), Potpourri (arr. A. Diabelli) which
are for guitar and flute, but should work well with piano and won't be
difficult. Benjamin GODDARD (1849-1895) Four pieces for flute and
orchestra fit the bill, and there's Camille SAINT SAENS (1835-1921)
Tarantelle op. 6, Gioachino ROSSINI (1792-1868) Andante and variations
in F major, and the aforementioned Paul-Agricole GENIN (1832-1903)
with the famous Carnaval de Venice which always brings down the house.
You might also want to look at Nikolai RIMSKY-KORSAKOV (1844-1908)

Romantico op.72, Albert Franz DOPPLER (1821-1883) Andante and Rondo,
Felix MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY (1809-1847) Rondo Capriccioso (oops, just
outside the boat - like Fred Chopin - oh well, never mind), Pyotr
Ilyich TCHAIKOVSKY (1840-1893) Scherzo (and lots of other pieces - we
play his 'June' from The Seasons as well), Jules DEMERSSEMAN
(1833-1866) Solo de Concert op.82, Jules MASSENET (1842-1912)
Meditation from the opera: Thais Claude-Paul TAFFANEL (1844-1908)
Fantasie on Weber's Opera: Der Freischütz and, as Carole says, lots of
other pieces. To finish on an obscure note, here are some composers I
bet even Carole hasn't heard of! Max Meyer-Olbersleben (1850-1927):
Fantasie Sonata Opus 17, Julius Rietz (1812-1877): Sonata in G minor
Opus 42, and John Francis Barnett (1837-1916): Grand Sonata Opus 41.
