Hi,
for more than two years I've been wondering about FGW guitars because
there are no updates on the website and I never received an answer to
the two e-mails I wrote.
So I finally found your yahoo-group.
Too bad to hear that Matti is having health problems. I really hope he
gets better.
I fell in love with his guitars whem I first saw them online about
seven years ago but I could never afford one back then. So I e-mailed
him last year about the prices of a Sound of Blues and shipping costs
to Germany. And about all the color and pickup and hardware options. I
would buy a Sound of Blues next year.
Hopefully Matti gets well. And once he's healthy again, maybe I can
think about a guitar from Finnland again.

Best regards,
Andreas

Thanks for the Post, Andreas.

I will have to go see Matti one of these days, to post some news
here. There are others who have had trouble getting Matti to deliver
guitars. Matti is very busy always, as the Finnish musicians keep him
occupied both with orders for new instruments and repairs and service
for their old instruments.

I know many large companies in the guitar business have tried to get
Matti to expand and to licence his designs for factory-made guitar
manufacturing. He has not wanted to do this and he has made sure the
guitars are all his personal work. Occasionally he has trainees and
other help from schools arund the area, but I guess this kind of help
needs more supervision than what is compensated by their ability to
do actual work. So this means the situation is a bit difficult.

In addition, they will demolish the building where his workshop is,
leaving him (and many established and start-up bands, some of which
have rehearsal space in the same building) high and dry with regard
to where to continue his work.

I will get bac to the matter in a couple of weeks, right now I am
quite busy with my job, and will be taveling quite a lot in the next
3 weeks.

Jyrki

Hi Jyrki,
When you check on the status of the guitars, could you check for me as well. It's been since the beginning of the year and I haven't heard from Matti...I didn't know about his health problems, and I hope he returns to good health! I've always appreciated your emails and your time Jyrki. Thanks and hope to hear from you!
