Hi all,
I am from India. I play my Yamaha TRB 1005, purchased it almost a year back.. I
very happy with the feel and the sustain is a real class. But not so happy with
my live/recording sound, at times.. I know my strings dont ring as brite as I
wud like it to.. I jus luv the Marcus Miller slap/finger tone.. Is there anyway
to get anywhere close to it??
Have couple of new string sets, one is the Prism (steel) from D'addario and
another is a local one.. Never tried steels bfore, jus cant wait to try that...
Heard it eats the frets slowly!!?? Sort of fused ven I think of how long the
brightness of the strings wil last, be it nickel or steel! Shud say, the climate
here is quite humid and am sure that adds as well! I do clean my strings either
with a soft cloth or dip in hot water with vinegar in it.. Is my last approach
advisable (actually read this in some article in the web..).
I play different genres and am a session artist. I am fancying to buy a bass
compressor for the live gigs but is that the only solution for a distinctive
slap/finger sound. Plus the cost factor is there too!!
Am sure I have one of the finest pieces of wood with me and I need to give it a
better care to get the best out of it..
Please help!
Thanks in advance..
Regards
Aalaap
