Frank Farian is Germany's most successful music producer, (Boney M., Eruption, Precious Wilson, Gilla, Milli Vanilli, No Mercy, Chilli, La Bouche, Far Corporation, Meat Loaf, Terence Trent D'Arby, Daniel Lopes, Gift and more.)
b. 1941, Germany, Farian created two of the world's best-selling pop groups, Boney M and Milli Vanilli. His father was killed in WWII and Farian grew up in the '50s listening to US and UK pop music. His first group was Frankie Farian die Schatten by the mid-60s. In the early '70s he switched to "German Schlager" for the Hansa label. Among his successes were Dana My Love (1972) and Rocky (German no. 1, 1976). The same year Farian joined the disco boom by producing Baby Do You Wanna Bump, under the pseudonymn Boney M. The track's success in the Netherlands led Farian to form a recording and touring group which went on to notch up over a dozen international hits. During the late '70s he produced a version of Ann Peebles’ I Can't Stand The Rain and other hits by the disco group Eruption. Farian's lack of US success with Boney M was rectified by his next best-selling act. In his studio during 1987, he produced tracks under the name Milli Vanilli, recruiting Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan to front the group. The group had number 1 hits in America with its first three singles in 1989 and had two best-selling albums. Milli Vanilli's career ended suddenly when Farian admitted that Pilatus and Morvan had not sung on the band's records. Undaunted, he re-launched the group in 1991 as the Real Milli Vanilli, using Brad Howell and John Davis, the singers from the original studio sessions.
In the '90s Farian created international topacts like La Bouche, No Mercy and Chilli, and had success Boney M. reissues The new millenium brings new Farian acts like Norissa and Daniel Lopes. In 2004 Farian writes a book "Stupid dieser Bohlen". May 2005 Farian lauches girl group GIFT. Autumn 2006 Farian's musical Daddy Cool premieres in London.
