I did.
They looked and sounded very good - the Park West is a great venue
with a suppper-clubby type of vibe - but they seemed a bit out of
their element. There was very little of the witty banter between songs
that I've seen at shows in the past, and Catherine especially acted as
if she didn't quite know what to do between tunes. Most times she kind
of said "well" into the microphone as if she was about to say
something more but ended it at the "well" and moved on with the song.
There was a brief bit where they said that M.Ward sounded great at
sound check and joked that they were surprised to find out that the M.
did not stand for Montgomery, but aside from that they just looked
like they felt out of place. Janet made mention that the Park west was
the nicest place they had ever played in Chicago and that they were
used to playing venues that were more rowdy.
The crowd was a bit chatty and while many of us were very into what
they were doing, a good portion of the folks there treated them like
just another opening act. All told it was an odd gig. To add insult to
injury, the house lights came on after their second to last song. They
looked a bit stunned; the lights stayed on, they were told that they
couldn't do their last tune, they packed up and went on their way.
Very awkward to say the least.
Sorry, but I can't provide a set list.
