What FuseNet is About
FuseNet is intended to provide a forum for discussion of the style of music commonly referred to as "fusion".
When most people hear the word "fusion", they tend to think of jazz/rock fusion; and this is indeed the genre most frequently discussed on this forum. While widely perceived has having had its "golden age" back in the 1970s, jazz/rock fusion is currently enjoying a resurgence. There are many talented musicians making enjoyable, interesting new music in the fusion genre today.
More broadly, any time two disparate musical genres intermingle, that is a form of "fusion" too! Want to discuss the fusion of jazz with traditional Indian music? C'mon in, you're welcome to pull up a virtual chair and stay a while!
Ground Rules
- Please try to keep things reasonably on-topic, and conduct all discussions in a civil manner.
- Do not solicit on the list for purchase, sale or trade of illegitimate copies of copyrighted content.
- Do not post copyrighted material without permission of the original author.
- Please, no religious proselytization or political flame-wars. (Discussion of religion in the context of its influence on the musicians normally discussed here is OK.)
Repeated rules violations will result in removal from the list.
History
FuseNet has its roots in the old Atavachron (Allan Holdsworth) mailing list, which was started by Jeff Preston in 1991. When Atavachron folded in the spring of 1998, David Motes took over the subscriber list, and turned it into FuseNet. As of July 1998, David Motes was no longer able to provide a home for the list, which was then moved to eGroups; eGroups was subsequently acquired by Yahoo!... so here we are! It's been a long and winding road...
Administrivia
The current list administrator / moderator is Mike Uchima, who may be reached at fusenet-owner@yahoogroups.com.

Re: JL Ponty
Preston, So sorry you couldn't get any tickets. There was a guy who tried to buy tickets at the door for his child and himself, who was disappointed as well.
