I completely agree.  I like Winton's classical work, for example. Don't care
much for his opinions, but so what.  Just throwing some stuff out there to chew
on.

There was always a dilemma with me about great musicians saying things against
what you believe in, or acting like poor human beings, ect., ect. One example
for me is Buddy Rich.
I grew up listening and loving his playing. I played for a few years with one of
his bass players from his big band from the eighties, and learned how awful he
use to treat his band mates, something that I'm sure you all heard about. Did
that made me like his playing any less? NO.
Some of the greatest artist (not just music) were not great human beings...I
love Wynton Marsalis , the early stuff. Now, I do admit that when you have a
wonderful musician that also happens to be a wonderful person....that' s a plus
for me, and I know many of them.

I always felt that being talented does not entitle anyone to be a jerk. I've played with some people who I did not get along with. It's not worth it to me....
