I attended the first of many protests opposing/intending to influence the upcoming G20 meeting on Saturday. I had taken along songsheets containing lyrics of two of my songs/musical poems "Do They Know It's G20 Time?" and "The World Is Planned" to hand out, and recorded solo performances of those songs at the demonstration - see links later in this email. I later came across an anarchist contingent and had a go at recording a song "On My Own" I had written dedicated to an Indian anarchist living in New York, Priya Reddy (who sometimes likes to be known as "warcry"). [Note that I wrongly thought she had been a political prisoner; let me use this opportunity to correct that false information about her, which I also made clear in the recording of the song.] I can usually remember the lyrics to that song very well, but somebody shouting "Freedom" put me off - I think that performance in particular is rather funny, but you should enjoy the others too!

 

There is a serious purpose behind me putting these videos on the internet - putting forward some of my political views and encouraging people to protest in further demos in London when world leaders are here to try to find a capitalist economic crisis that many analysts, including billionaire investor George Soros, are predicting could lead to total meltdown of the financial system or perhaps bankruptcy of the UK, which many more surely fear after the failed auction of government bonds (gilts) last week.
