The brand-spanking-new *official* Gin Blossoms website will go live
later today at http://www.ginblossoms.net . (The site is not live as
of right now, so just try a little later if you get an error at that
URL.) The band has been without an official website since a management
change last (?) year... this site is put together by their new
management company.

The site includes news, tour dates, a photo gallery, store, and a
message board... since the hosting company for my unofficial GBs site
was never able to fix the message board they broke when they moved the
site to a new server, I'd like to invite everyone who was posting on
it to move to the new board. :-)

The Blossoms are on tour all over the place this summer. You can find
the latest dates at Pollstar.com.

Sallie Mae's 300-person call-center in Summerlin, Nev. is hosting
"Shade
Tree V," a benefit concert to raise money for The Shade Tree
Women's
Shelter, a local non-profit organization that provides services to
more than
4,000 homeless women and children each month.

The concert will feature headliners, the Gin Blossoms; host, British
rocker
John Waite; and a performance from Grammy award winning singer Jody
Watley. Las Vegas hip-hop artist Bonafied will also perform.

Sallie Mae employees have elected to forgo their holiday party for
the fifth
consecutive year in order to host this benefit for The Shade Tree
Women's
Shelter.

TICKETS:  The concert is open to the public. General admission
tickets are
$30 and reserved seats are $40. A limited number of $100 host tickets
and
$400 reserved host tables are available and include admission to the
private
after-show party with Waite, the Gin Blossoms and Watley at The House
of
Blues. All tickets can be purchased by contacting the House of Blues
ticket
office at 1-702-632-7600. Infinity Broadcasting is a media co-sponsor
for the
event and will conduct ticket promotions on Las Vegas radio stations
Mix 94.1
and Lite 100.5.

All ticket proceeds will go to The Shade Tree Women's Shelter. In

The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization sponsored by Sallie
Mae, is
contributing a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $30,000 of the
proceeds from
the event. Last year's concert raised more than $70,000 for the
shelter.

* Robin, a huge PlayStation 2 fan, agreed to take part in a Karaoke
Revolution story</a> in the December issue of the Official U.S.
Playstation
Magazine, now on shelves. The game scores players on their pitch and
rhythm via a headset, and "Hey Jealousy" is one of the songs in the
game. In
the article, Robin is "competing" with R.E.M., Hoobastank, and
Barenaked
Ladies. The issue is on newsstands now, or you can read the article

Starting in January, Robin will also be contributing a regular column

Looks like Long Island will be on Saturday, June 7th at Mulcahy's in
Wantaugh. This has not been confirmed but it could be locked in this
week.

Saturday, June 14th the band will be in Cincinnati, OH... once again
part of the Rib America festival (5th & Race St). Hopefully the
weather will be kinder this year.

Wednesday, July 23rd Minneapolis will get another chance to see the
Gin Blossoms. The band will be playing their third and final Rib
America Festival of the year at Nicollet Mall & Marquette Btw. 3rd &
4th St.

Folks in Denver... be patient... they're working on something for you.

ANNOUNCING THE FIRST GIN BLOSSOMS STREET TEAM CONTEST


The Markets: Orlando (HOB 3/8), Hallendale (3/9) Syracuse (Bridge Music
Hall 3/12), Poughkeepsie (Chance 3/13), Jay Peak (3/15), Killington (Pickel
Barrel 3/16), Savannah (Riverfest 3/17)

Objective: To raise awareness of the Gin Blossoms in key tour markets and to
help promote the band's upcoming concert dates. (We want these shows
packed - especially Orlando!!).

Rules: Contest begins 2/11 and ends 3/11 (On the 1 Year Anniversary of the
Gin Blossoms Yahoo Message Board). Participants may use any materials
available to them or anything that they create. Contestants MAY NOT
represent themselves as working for the band or their management company.
You are taking part in this contest as an independent member of a street
team. There will be no financial compensation for your time. The contest is not
limited to people living in the tour markets. We encourage everyone to get
involved and help spread the word. Your marketing campaign does not have
to focus on all the dates. In fact, it would be better if you concentrated on a
single show (Just a suggestion). Concepts should be in good taste and not
involve any illegal behavior. (Don't streak at the Arena Football Game with a
Gin Blossoms sticker across your bum).

Submissions: A brief description of your idea should be submitted ahead of

Well, thanks to Geocities screwing up... the unofficial GBs
website has made a rather hurried move to its new URL:

Unfortunately, at the moment, the old URL no longer exists...
although I'm working on browbeating Geocities into reinstating it.
So please change your bookmarks, and let people know the site
has moved. I'm hoping to be able to put a redirect link back at the

Dusted has been available online sporadically throughout the
year, but it is being officially re-released (again) on Sept. 10, and
will be available at http://www.benchmarkrecords.com.

The collector's edition of New Miserable Experience will be
released on Sept. 24. Track listing is available on the News

The new Blossoms DVD, "Just South of Nowhere," will be

News from Jim and the official mailing list...

"This Novemeber will see the release of the first GIN BLOSSOMS DVD!!!

The DVD will feature not only an entire concert from the NME tour but
also all of the band's videos. This will mark the first official
release of a Gin Blossoms concert in any format."

The track list will be announced later.

Also, an official GBs website is almost finished, and should debut
soon.
