RE: [geggytah] Re: Happy Man Who Fell to Earth Day!

Have yawl ever heard Tommy's song "Art's Garage"??? Not sure if it ever
made it to record. It's dang good.

Motel for Misery is quite good.

I like "Tucked In, Hidden, is Love for somebody." I want to record a
Harry Connick, swingy version of it.

I will have to check it out because I like David Bowie. However,
that image in the Grand Opening liner notes has always spooked me --
because I couldn't see enough limbs for two people, I assumed it was
supposed to be newborn Siamese twin infants -- to fit nicely with
the lyrics of "Welcome into the World" that are on that page.
However, since the very concept of conjoined twins is painful for me
to accept, I made it a rule to not look long or hard at that
graphic. However, I think you're right -- there are two complete
people there (I just discovered the 4th leg :) And if they're not
completely naked, they seem to be only covered in streaks of
something (streaked streakers!) The left hand one looks a bit like
Greg, so I'm assuming the other is Tommy? Mondo bizarro.

Speaking of random Geggy Tah connections...

I have been weeding out old CDs and trying to sell them on the
internet. Among these was a Crash Test Dummies CD I hadn't listened
to in 8 years or so. However, it would seem that even 11 years
after the debut of this album, the world is still oversaturated with
unwanted copies. So I gave up trying to sell it and decided to
listen to it again to determine if it would A) retain a spot in my
CD rack or B) become a coaster. Turn's out I'll be going with
choice A becaue I'm finding that the self-conscious philoso-
geekiness is charming me all over again. But what really made me
laugh is track 9: "When I Go out with Artists," which pokes fun at
the art world and its groupies. There's this line "If I could see
all the symbols, unlock what they mean, maybe I could meet the
artists and get to know them personally." It made me think of us,
fortunate Geggy Tah devotees, and the fact that we have had many
cyber-visits from our very own artiste -- and we didn't even have to
unlock all the symbols first! What a nice artiste, eh? But the
killer -- the song also mentions David Byrne! "If I were David
Byrne I'd go to galleries and not be too concerned, I would have a
cup of coffee and I'd find my surroundings quite amusing and people
would ask me which were my favorite paintings."

And so as a Certifiable GT Groupie, I shall now ask the Lord-High
Emperor of GT Groupieland, wherever he might be, "Mr. Byrne, Sir --
in this wondrous gallery of Geggy Tah songs, which is Your Favorite?"

"oh -- and can I get you another cup of coffee?"

And then at last I will know, in the words of the Crash Test
Dummies, "which should be my favorite."

And then I will be at peace.

Marie
