I have seen Dan in his various guises(Satts,Yayhoos,Sofa
Kings/Homemade Sin) many many times over the years, but never quite
seen them like they were last night!
It certainly wasnt the best I have ever seen them/him but it was
certainly the most fun I have ever seen a band have on stage.
Dan was forgetting words(they started "Dan Takes 5" 3 times!!!!),and
also on a couple of other songs he kind of "blah blah blahed" his way
through.Keith obviously hadnt heard the song "Myth of Love" before as
he was all over the place during it(Dan later told me that in fact he
DIDNT know the song!!),and Kens amp managed to blow up aswell. That
started a 10 min break before they came on to blast through the
remainder of the set. They did the following covers--"get it on","Im a
believer",Chuck Berry song that I forget the title of,"day Tripper"
and 2 other things that I forget(anybody else remember?).They all just
had permanant smiles throughout the whole show, and looked like they
were having a private party half the time! Maybe they have finally
turned into the Faces(only thing missing was the footballs!!)
As I said, not the best I have ever seen Dan,but his " not best" is
still WAY loads better than nearly all other bands "best ever".
A true legend, and as usual all the guys stayed and chatted to everybody.
They really are(along with Drive-by Truckers) the greatest most down
to earth people I have ever met in rock music.
The only pisser to the night was that my camera wouldnt work so I wont
be posting any pics this time round.Ill take my other camera to
Sheffield next week(anybody wanna say hello Im the big bloke with
loads of tatts and a bald head-prob wearing a "dance music sucks"
t-shirt)and get some pics there.
Take care everybody and enjoy the shows.
