Hi guys,
Well here we are on a Monday morning. Last Friday we went to see Dan,
Ken, Keith and Mauro at the Summer Park Festival in Venlo, NL. It was
a great gig in a good atmosphere. The weather was nice, some 12,000
people showed up taht evening. There were a lot of very young people.
It was good to see that even the kids (15-20) very much liked the
gig. It was a short (1 hour) but very good one! Didn't take time to
write down the songs played, but all the usual was there plus two new
ones: Picture on the Wall and Shine a Light. They were pretty much
into it, usually it takes longer to get warmed up, but this time they
were there after the second song. A lot of response from the crowd,
helps too of course.
Afterwards, there was the chance to buy cd's and have them
autographed at a cd-stand. A good idea, they were crowded and
screamed at by young girls "which is f**ing great when you're 50
years old!" (Sorry Dan, this was too funny not to write down). As
Mick said later, at this gig there was so much sold that they even
ran out of copies of Out of Mothballs. We had the pleasure of meeting
the guys afterwards, Ken was pleased to see me in the crowd with my
Dusters T-shirt, Mauro 'enjoyed' some soup, Dan ate fruit and Keith
drank. What can you say? A good time was had by all. Hope they have a
good time at the other gigs too. I took some pictures and Julian was
kind enough to make some pics for me on stage (the damn thing was
high!), go see them at http://www.danbaird.net/venlo.htm Sorry to
say, they're all out of focus because it was too dark or too far
away, I don't know but there are some interesting shots.
