Where I saw Lady Kier and Bjork! ( not together)
I didn't make it to Ultra fest where Kier was playing in the VIP area
but I did run into her at former deee-lite backup singer Barbara
Tucker's party. She looked gorgeous and I have pics!
for anyone in L.A. Kier is Djing tonight at club deluxe at the factory.

Are we talkin Ella or Nina Simone?  Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the song. FOr years I had a basic email with my name and someone kept telling me how boring I was. So strangefruit and cheese was the first goofy thing I came up with.

I thought it was Billy Holiday's song as she refers to
people hanging from trees(lynchings) but thanks for

I'm going to put it out there, after watching the vid of Kier at Wigstock 2005
and hearing a
few sound files of her "new" music, has it really been worth the wait? I'm not
sure.

Compared to Towa, who has been prolific in his releases and pushed the
boundaries of
music genres each time, do you think that Kier still has the power to attract
the attention
of the music press with something new and unique or will it be some rehash of a
Deee-
Lite-esque tune???

Don't get me wrong, I will be first in line to buy my copy of the album, I'm
just not sure
that it will be as inspiring as we might all think.

How long can a woman dress up as a NY Club Kid and get away with it? And was
she really
the creative influence behind Deee-Lite or just the mouth piece for Towa and
Dimitry?

Can of worms opened.

Good point made. It's hard to say really whether musically, Kier will
release something that is audibly stimulating. There is so much new,
cool, innovative music out there, making it harder than ever to
create something that grasps listeners. I like that striptease song
but I'm not crazy about the no war song. It's also hard to tell how
the final product will sound like since a downloaded version doesn't
do a song justice.(can't hear all the different parts, instruments,
high hats, etc...) The sound quality from wigstock is extremely poor.
I think Kier herself is musical and understands music(she can
harmonize and generally has a good ear) but we'll really just have to
wait and see what the final product will sound like. I read on the
internet that the online release date for it would be FEB.11th. What
happened? I will see her in Amsterdam in a week and a half so I will
give an honest review...What does everyone else think?

thats harsh man. No, she is not the dj, and she can
not do what he does, but she has talent and she can
sing her ass off. Not everyone can do that.

Miss Erin,

You have misunderstood my comment.

I'm not saying that she isn't talented, but so many
other people are out there with the same talent
striving for the same thing. What I am saying is do
you think that she has the edge over everyone else
now? And if so, would do you think that she can bring
to the mix?

And come on, the war song is a bit lame. She's
already done that kind of thing already on Infinity
Within. And it seems that she has just jumped on the
bandwagon with that one.

But the Stripping song is cool.

Kier can sing about slicing cheese for all I care, She
has a killer voice and great delivery. She would make
anything she sings about cool. I even like that old
voting skit she did. kier is da bomb!

You know - music is TOTALLY subjective...

I first heard "Bulletproof" during a LMK Dj set last June - and I
heard it subesquently at a few more DJ sets she did - and it was the
HIGHLIGHT of the set each time and the entire crowd went wild. I
think the song is AMAZING and very much on "the edge" and above par
with what is out there today. In contrast, I was a bit disappointed
with the "Striptease" number which felt a bit too cheesy for me...

Her work with Ronkat is pretty good too - although let's not forget
that those were unfinished tracks... Someone mentioned "Go Down" I
think as being their favorite track of those sessions and again I
disagree... "Hot Wax" is the gem there in my opionion... and that
difference of opinion shouldn't be so shocking - as I am sure if you
asked every one of us what our favorite Deee-Lite tracks were on
each album we would all have different opinions...

Do not worry about Kier - all you have to do is liten to "Don't Want
To Stay At Home" to know that this woman can deliver a song LIKE NO
ONE ELSE OUT THERE!! I heard "Groove Is In The Heart" for the
4,720th time the other day, and yes the production is killer and the
melody is amazing - but it was Kier's voice that still impressed
above all...

Oh, ok. Personally, I think jumping on the bandwagon
about no war is good but I see your point on the rest
of it.

I would have to say that the DJ, you know who I'm
talking about, on DEEE-LITE albums is the real genius
though. His beats and how he uses them to get a
certain message across and also where he gets them
from is the real geius but Kier is the talent.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that Bullet Proof is a COVER.
The original was done by George Clinton in the eighties!
