Re: Bill and Sharon Dunbar
present . .... present 'on the air' almost continuously as a ' bluegrass-pushing' DJ on WOW radio, present at all of the main bluegrass festivals setting up sort of a first-aid camp for bluegrass musicians, present at all local and national bluegrass and country concerts anywhere in this area, present in music studios pushing all of local bluegrass music by letting them play on live radio shows and commercials. (Those were the days when WOW had 9 or 10 sister stations, and one of the largest country music conglomerates in the country. ) The Dunbar's were also very present and very active on the GPBOTMA board.. promoting and volunteering.
Bill, I've been meaning to thank you for a long time : for all of the hard work you have put in over the years.
Because of you, and fellow stalwarts like Bob Everhart, and Dick Zion, we local ( bluegrass) (and old time) musicians actually now have classic audio and video recordings of our earlier times . You made it happen. Thanks.
I recently tuned into Bill's channel online and heard one our fellow Omaha-based GPBOTMA members being played . It was (Hal Cottrell) and his wife playing a song which they had written and recorded. Last week at the very successful Nebraska BLuegrass Festival, I saw some other local bluegrass bands were giving their new cd's for Bill to play on his internet show.
Bill Dunbar is and has always been incredible promoter of bluegrass music.
Every year, when I see the national awards shows like SPGMA and IBMA, I always wonder what it would take for a whole lot of us to get involved and simply vote for Bill Dunbar for Bluegrass DJ of the year.
In our region, he has been he only DJ who has promoted bluegrass on the air for 30 years.
Thanks Bill

Gosh Mundy; Any one who has been around since the 70's and listened to my radio shows when I had played them on it would remember and that would be some of the older GBOTMA members. Maybe I should try and get one of those radio stations to put me on there in Omaha, but from what I hear there are few Real Country Radio Stations there any more. Other wise tune intowww.worldwidebluegrass.com for 24/7 live Bluegrass & Ole Time Country music. Live DJs.Uncle Billy Dunbar
