I never liked his solo stuff either, but I think Don and Mel need him more than
he needs them. His voice and guitar is something a 38 Special guy and a hack
from KISS(the bad years, no less) can't hold a candle to.
Farner may Physically be 1/3 of Grand Funk, but his musical contribution is
much greater. That's why they need 2 or 3 other guys to fill his shoes.
And those "other classic rock bands" aren't as sacred as Grand Funk.
Sorry, but he's too big an ingredient to leave missing from the equation, and
still call it "GRAND FUNK".
Unfortuantely , Mark had to do the ultimate cliche' ex-rockstar thing and
"find God"...
I think someone needs to tie him in a room and play "Sin's a Good Man's
Brother" really LOUD until he sees the light again, but to call that current
lineup "GRAND FUNK" is blasphemous.
Just my, 2 cents, folks.
