hello, i'm trying to run guitarrx on a dell dimension 4300 p4. when
i try to start it(in the realtime section) it says that "there is
no wdm-sound output device." any help would be greatly appreciated.

Visit your sound card manufacturer site, download and install
latest drivers for your sound card (usualy it will be wdm)
run GuitarFX,

P.S. you must have 98 or 2000 or XP
