Re: [guitarfx] how to create a sound

hi there

i am not sure what you mean by "create a sound", gfx is not meant to create a sound, it's built to process it. If you can hear unprocessed sound only or do not hear the sound at all, this might be because the settings of the sound card. I do not know your pc specs, but lets say you have win98, sound card (SB live or integrated, does not matter now) WITH CORRECTLY INSTALLED DRIVERS (it's ok if you can hear the sounds in games or it can play music) and electric guitar. ok, let's do it in steps:

step1. Download and install gfx3 or 2.17 (it's for free now). Plug in your guitar (better when pc is off)
2. in the lower right corner of your screen doubleclick on the loudspeaker. a "volume control" window pops up
3.go "Options->Properties->Recording"
4.select "Mic" if it was not selected and press ok
5.now the name of the window is "Recording control". In my case there are four choices:Recording, Mic, Line in and CD player. Find "Mic"and select the white square under the volume control. Adjust the volume at about 90%.
6.Go "Options" and select "Advanced". Now you can see Advanced button under Mic control. press it and select anything that says boost (this might be different for all sound cards). press "Close"
7.play something with your guitar. If you can hear the sound, you can jump to step 10
8.Go "Options->Properties->Playback", select "Mic" here and press ok. You are in volume control window again.
9.Find "mic" and deselect the "mute" square. play again.
10.If you can hear the sound of your guitar, select "mute" again (because you only want to hear processed sound, right?)
11.run gfx3
12.select gain, dist or whatever, switch the preset "on", press start and play.

I think it is not possible to record in gfx3, but i think it was possible in ver2.17, but i am not sure. Anyway, if you are still having problems with this, you can mail me and i shall try to help you. Just remember to put the specs of your pc next time.

regards
Apendis

... possible in ver2.17, but i am not sure. GuitarFX 3 is very close to "for free". There is no time limit. There are no features limits. All unlocked. Yes,...
