I am since a very long time on the quest to create the sustained,
singing, clear sound of Santana, Gary Moore and also the sounds of
Queen and GNR Sweet Child.

I have tried several equioment combinations and software and find
GUITARFX the best (most versatile) so far, but while it is extremely
easy to create thousands of good distorsion sounds, I just struggle
with the ones I want.

Can someone help? Muchas Gracias !!!!!!!

I think to make the cream sustain we must use something like this:
Gain - EQ - EQ - Distortion - EQ
Why two EQs? - I think the sustain needs in hi-gain for
high frequencies only, so two EQs with apropriatly tuned
sliders (more hi freq for hi notes). The single EQ can't
give needed hi gain for hi frequencies.
Under hi-freq I mean only hi guitar notes frequencies,
around 400-800 Hz, do not aplify very hi frequencies.
Sliders' line must look like a hill.
After distortion, I think, we must filter-out very hi freq
again and amplify frequencies related to hi freq notes again.
You can add noise-gate to the top fx-slot too.
