Does anyone have any info on Antonio Duran? I understand that he is a
guitar builder from Spain who builds classical guitars with only his
left hand as he lost his right arm in an accident. I'm trying to
locate anyone who has built guitars with only one hand as I was
involved in a serious motorcycle accident last year that resulted in
the loss of my left arm at the shoulder and left leg at the hip.
Prior to my accident I had been both playing and build guitars and
banjos since my early teen years. I'm now in my mid 50's and
naturally suffering as I can't play anymore, but have started to
build banjos again. To enable this I've designed and built numerous
jigs and fixtures to assist in one hand building. I'm even steaming
and rolling my own rims, plus building the majority of metal parts. I
can actually claim that my new banjos are looking better than what I
was building with two hands! There's just no room for error when
working with one hand! I'd really like to extend my building to
guitars and would really like to make contact with anyone who knows
of any instrument builders in a similarly disabled situation. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
