Hey, that's pretty interesting, sound like you and I
have a lot in common. I've got an NJ strat with stock
pickups in it myself. I'm currently redoing an old
Lotus strat for my 10 year old daughter. I picked it
up for $65 in a used instrument bin at some music
shop. I've also got a "box-o-ole-guitar-crap" that
I'm picking and choosing what to use. Hopefully, that
will be just a stop gap till I can finish my pet
project of building a LP Junior copy from scratch. I
am building that with a 24" scale length since both
she and I have small hands and it's not easy for her
(or me) to play a regular 24 2/3" or 25" scale guitar.
If you are really into pickups and have ever thought
about winding your own, you ought to check out
http://europa.spaceports.com/~fishbake/fpickup/pickup.htm
This guy is my hero, he builds all kinds of stuff
from junk lying around, and since I am a cheapskate
myself - well. Check it out.
