Did everybody get theirs?
Here's a quick review...
I like the packaging, pretty much what I expected. Artwork is standard
Hugh Syme consistent with the previously released Retro CDs. All the
Atlantic album covers grace this cover. Strangely missing is the cover
of Snakes and Arrows though.
First, Disk 1, the audio CD. I think Half The World deserved to be on
here, but we do get the video of it. I guess they decided on the live
version of Ghost of a Chance instead. The remastered tracks of
Earthshine and One Little Victory sound a lot better, but I can still
hear a bit of distortion and clipping in there. I guess this is as
good as it will get without a complete remixing. They seem clearer and
you can hear the echo effects on Geddy's voice more now. The volume
levels are much better though, and more consistent with the other
tracks. It does make me want to hear all of Vapor Trails remastered now.
Disk 2, the DVD. The bonus videos are a nice touch. It's great to have
all the official videos now. The inclusion of the Colbert Report
footage was nice, but I actually already made my own DVD of that. I
would have preferred the inclusion of something rare instead.
Congratulations to Bobby Standridge (BobbysBrane.com), for getting his
video of Mal Nar included on this. He must be one very stoked Rush fan!!
