As of yesterday evening, it looked like Nick Lachey was a no-show at the
Kentucky Derby.

Jessica Simpson's official reason for skipping the race was that she's in L.A.
working on her album, but the couple had been putting a lot of distance between
themselves lately.

He was in Sweden Monday when Simpson attended the Met Costume Gala with designer
Michael Kors and was followed out of the party by rumored close friend Johnny
Knoxville.

Publicists (not connected to the couple) openly gossiped on the Met's red carpet
that an announcement of a split could come as early as next week.

After last night's Barnstable Brown Gala, celebs were expected to hit Stuff
magazine's reliably rowdy after-party at the Crown Royal Lounge.

Among the folks equining-and-dining in Louisville are Usher, hot couple Jerry
O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn, Kid Rock, Dennis Hopper, Cuba Gooding Jr.,
Jermaine Dupri, Smokey Robinson, Big Boi, Sir Richard Branson, Drea DeMatteo,
Tara Reid, Boyz II Men and Cheryl Ladd.
