Grouper and bootlegs   Message List

Hi all,

As some of you may be aware, and in fact may be members of, there is a mailing
list available to fans of Roy (and Nick) Harper. More information can be found
here:

http://www.mistlethrush.co.uk/mailman/listinfo.cgi/stormcock

Recently, some of the members have set up a group to enable file sharing and
listening of music. Already there are a few members within the group with Roy
bootlegs. My thought was that if members of the Harper Traders became members
of this group, files could be shared and/or traded in a very simple way,
without the need for copying to CD and postage, etc.

All that's needed to enable your music to be shared is:

1. have files stored in some digital format on your computer;
2. download and install the Grouper software (http://grouper.com/) Full explan
here also;
3. get invited to the Stormcock Group area (mail Harper Traders and I will
follow up with an email on how to do that);
4. Finally, choose which files you wish to share with the group.

p.s. for actual downloading to take place, any MP3s or WMAs will need to be
zipped or compressed in some way, e.g. WinZip or Windows Compression Toll that
comes with WIn XP.

p.s.s. a broadband/cable connection is not a requirement, but useful, though
I'm sure a traditional modem and connection would work, though I've not tried
it.

One final thought, wouldn't it be great if Harper fans around the world could
share, hassle free, files and thoughts on the great music he has produced over
the years. I especially would like to be able to listen to live material
pre-1990, as I have a few bootlegs in the 90s and 2000, courtesy of other
members.

Bob Toms.

(PD - is this worth posting on the list?)
