Hello,
May i ask if anyone of you is a member of the link below ?.
http://www.guitarport.com/content.html
If you are please drop me a email, i have some questions regarding
this.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Ben.
Hi Bob,
Thanks for your emssage. Problem is I haven't a clue about its 'real' value and
peopel over the past few weeks have quoted me prices from £20 to £55. I do quite
a bit of CD buying and selling (as well as the inevitable collecting) and whilst
I knew of the CDs existence in Harper circles it's only recently I've come
across one. I'd be interested to hear what you think it's worth and I'm hopeing
I'll get some other responses which will hlpe me get a reasonable price which is
fair to the buyer.
Bests
Andy

Hi Andy,
I'd be interested in taking the 'Poems, speeches'. Give me an idea of a
reasonable price and I'll get straight back to you.
My best regards,
Bob Toms.

Hi,
I'm new to the harpertraders list and would like to ask a general Harper related
question if it's not too off topic.
I have the six volume Harper BBC sessions CD and the (rare, I believe) Poems,
Speeches, Thoughts and Doodles, and I'd like to sell them. Is anyone interested
in making an offer?
Happy Trails

searching for "Stormcock" on the grouper directory does not yield any
results.
perhaps the creator chose to not have the group listed ?
I've created another one called Harper Traders, which hopefully will be
more accessible. You can currently download 12.11.01 (Nick Harper,
Chester) in SHN format. (assuming my machine is on!)
cheers

Hello.
I have more than a dozen of Roy gigs in FLAC format. I'd like to share
them and download the recording of others, but I can't find the right
group on grouper too!
i signed up to the grouper thing - where is the group ?
i searched for harper, and stormcock, and nothing at all came up.
agree with john's points about mp3 though - pointless really.
it would have to be SHN or FLAC, and then of course it only really makes
sense if everyone has broadband.
I have quite a few Nick shows as SHNs which i recorded myself, that i
would be willing to share via this method.
Whilst i also take John's point about it being soulless (and i agree), I
simply don't have the time these days to mess about with burning discs
and putting them in envelopes and writing addresses out and all that
nonsense. I would however, like others to benefit from the few
recordings I've made and if this turns out to be the easiest way for me
to make them available, then so be it. I'm always going to take the path
of least resistance!
cheers

Bob,
I agree in priciple about sharing Roy's shows, but you're assuming :-
a) that people have broadband
and b) people want MP3 files.
In the Dead trading community MP3 is an unspeakable word. (The debate rages on
as to whether you can really tell the difference, but the files are compressed
and therefore something is lost... try SHN or FLAC format for lossless
compression)
Personally, I don't like the idea of downloading replacing trading - I think
part of the pleasure (?) of groups like this is the communication and community.
It's all very soulless.
Cheers,
John
Hi all,
As some of you may be aware, and in fact may be members of, there is a mailing
list available to fans of Roy (and Nick) Harper. More information can be found
here:
http://www.mistlethrush.co.uk/mailman/listinfo.cgi/stormcock
Recently, some of the members have set up a group to enable file sharing and
listening of music. Already there are a few members within the group with Roy
bootlegs. My thought was that if members of the Harper Traders became members
of this group, files could be shared and/or traded in a very simple way,
without the need for copying to CD and postage, etc.
All that's needed to enable your music to be shared is:
1. have files stored in some digital format on your computer;
2. download and install the Grouper software (http://grouper.com/) Full explan
here also;
3. get invited to the Stormcock Group area (mail Harper Traders and I will
follow up with an email on how to do that);
4. Finally, choose which files you wish to share with the group.
p.s. for actual downloading to take place, any MP3s or WMAs will need to be
zipped or compressed in some way, e.g. WinZip or Windows Compression Toll that
comes with WIn XP.
p.s.s. a broadband/cable connection is not a requirement, but useful, though
I'm sure a traditional modem and connection would work, though I've not tried
it.
One final thought, wouldn't it be great if Harper fans around the world could
share, hassle free, files and thoughts on the great music he has produced over
the years. I especially would like to be able to listen to live material
pre-1990, as I have a few bootlegs in the 90s and 2000, courtesy of other
members.
Bob Toms.
(PD - is this worth posting on the list?)

I am a relatively new member of the group. I started with Roy around
the Jugula album. I noticed in the files section there was artwork for
a Rock City, Covent Garden show in 1984. I was wondering if there was
anyone who could help me out to get a copy of this. I am really
interested as well in finding the songs Elizabeth and Advertisement
performed by Roy with Jimmy Page in 1984 if anyone has a show(s) with
these 2. I can't trade show for show because i'm new to collecting Roy
shows but can work out just about anything else (2:1's, etc.). Thanks
in advance for anyone who can help. Mike
Hi all,
Yes, it's me, the errant and quietly plotting (more like skiving!)
webmaster(ette) Paula, coming out from under my shell to point you to
Nick's NEW TOUR DATES at the House of Harper:
http://www.purplepalace.fsnet.co.uk/nicklivedates.htm
They were up and updated before the tour started, sorry I didn't post
here before then - hopefully anyone in Cardiff knew about that one
already, my bad. ;) Please note the upcoming band dates in August,
they should be great!
There's lots of new info linked from the home page as well, including
dates added to the archive, rumoured dates for 2005 and plenty more
you may not have seen since you've heard from the HOH. So feel free
to go for a wander, but make time to come out for a show or two as well...
Special note to all of you in the Edinburgh area: we expect you to RUN
not walk to Nick's gig at the Liquid Room on Friday 20 May and bring a
cast of thousands - tickets are available NOW:
http://www.juniperberries.co.uk
Why? Cos the House of Harper says so. And you know you want to. ;)
Check out Nick's website www.harperspace.com for further information
and general Harper insanity - we hope the tour diary is back for 2005!
And do email me if you want to be on the (fairly infrequent) site
update list...
Cheers,
Paula

Hello Group,
My name is Ben van Eck.
My question to you is: Are there any members on this list that have
seen Roy Harper play at the Les Cousins 49 Greekstreet London England
in 1967 ?.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Yours,
Ben.
Like Clive, I have d/led the show from the 28th and am now getting
the show from the 30th. Listening to the 28th as I type and very
enjoyable it is too with Roy on fine form musically and verbally -
stories on topics such as meeting Lemmie and a reviwer who wrote "I
hope he dosn't really believe in the things he sings about!" -
wonderful stuff :-)
The beauty of bittorrent is that the more people there are who are
getting the file at the same time, the faster it is for everyone
since BT also uploads to others at the same time. The whole system
is a shared resource and the complete opposite of
scarcity-consciousness, zero-sum games etc etc.
The reason these d/ls have been slow is because few people have been
getting them. BTW (maybe I was just lucky, Clive) but to encourage
anyone else who wants to try it sometime, I found it very easy to
register with EZT and then get the shows by clicking on the links
given in the earlier message.
I didn't even try to set-up any of the other stuff on EZT - I think
may be required only if you are providing shows for others to get
(i.e. starting off the process or 'seeding' as it is called).
When you click on the link for a show, a small file called a
'torrent file' is d/led to your computer. BitTorrent then uses this
file to access and d/l the actual files that you want. I haven't
used Azureus that Clive mentioned but it has a very good reputation
and AFAIK automates this as much as possible.
Anyway, enough rambling. Just like Clive I too am happy to offer
copies of these shows if that helps (B&P or trade). No wish to
tread on anyone's toes though if Clive is organising a tree and
happy to join in with that too.
BTW - slightly off-topic but does anyone have any Robyn Hitchcock
shows?
Best wishes
Syd

Hi folks
With more than a little help on FLAC from Simon I've managed to
downtorrent Roy's Friday 28th show .
I haven't had a chance to listen through but the sound isn't at all bad
- though probably an underpants job. The levels are a bit low - but its
a souvenir of a great evening . I won't copy in the main stormcoock
list but have copied in the few people I met up with ( Hello again
people ! ) who might have a particular interest.
The Stourbridge show from 30th is sort of dribbling through also .
Expected arrival time says infinity again but it's 10% here , so it's
infinity minus 10% minutes
As per previous mails the shows are on EZT
http://www.easytree.org/index.php but it's tricky to get into so for
those without access or broadband or whatever I'm happy to set up an
old-style Tree for both shows :- mail me and let me know . Let me
know also if you're not UK based !!

Folks
I managed with some difficulty to sort out membership of EZT, ,
having had my confirmation discarded by Yahoo 's Spam filters. Next
task is to get up to speed with a lexicon of Nerdspeak that nobody
would want in their head ( what's my Seeding Rank ? where do I kee
pmy torrents , intimate stuff thet you wouldn't normally share in a n
online group .. ) . Anyroadup I've ignored all theat stuff , installed
something called Azoreus that has a teriffic little blue frog on it ,
and somehow or other Roy's Friday 28th gig is 0.8% downloaded right
now ! It has an estimated arrival time of infinity, but ,hey, it's early
days , right ?
If it ever gets here and it's audible then I'll let the group
know and set up a vine
The little blue frog is really Very Cool

easytree has too many members at present. Is anybody able to download these for
me
and send on cd? I have a large trade list in exchange
