I may have said this here before, but the sad truth (for instrumentalists) is
most audiences pretty much have tunnel vision for just the singer, as that is
what the group is usually about. Ask them a few days later and they might not
even be able to tell you if there WAS a harp player in the band. Just the way
it is. Our harp tricks that seem so dandy to us really don't mean much to those
that pay the bills, which Paul rightly points out is that audience. Sometimes we
get lucky, and folks are fans of our instrument, and often its just because they
are amateur harp players themselves and would like take our place up there "if
only for this and if only for that"

So to serve the singer, is our duty then. To mostly comp and chord support, and
occasional get a solo or two to support the tune. All the rest is vanity? as
Shakespeare would say?

Hey the real trick is to be the singer AND harp guy in one. In which case I'd
spend a lot more time on the lyrics than trying to toot an overblow.

PS, Paul has another point. Golden Melodies are Howard Levy's favorites, and
seem to favor overblows. Why are people messing with the marine band mods if
the GM is already designed for it? Just curious
