For those of you interested in seeing Babylonian Tiles at Tour Des
Artistes this Saturday, below is some more information about the event
from LongBeachCulture.org. Please note that this event, including the
music, is free and that a paid ticket is only required to take part in
certain special events as described below.
From LongBeachCulture.org:
I hope you're planning to spend Saturday at the 7th annual Tour Des
Artistes. This Saturday, June 11th, things get started at noon. There
will be music by Dramarama, Eugene Edwards, John Wicks, Barry Holdship,
Robbie Rist, Wormstew, plus local favs Jah Fellowship, Matt Costa,
Greater California and Richard Swift. And that's just on the Linden
stage.
On the Elm Street stage, sponsored by LongBeachCulture.org, you can
enjoy the guitar stylings of Chris Schlarb as Xn, the hilarity, madness,
and girl power of Squeak Toy, the high energy roadhouse fun of Wax
Apples, the Acid-Goth intensity of Babylonian Tiles, and the theatrical
rock-opera smackdown of The Elderly Vs Shave.
Local poet Raindog will share his song stylings on the 4th Street stage,
along with Sarah Green, Daniel & Orlando, and the Bill Madision band.
On the garden stage you can enjoy the violin/cello duo Kristar, the
Latin & Folk rhythms of Miel, Bolivian folk dance and music by Tukuypaj,
World Music by the World Music Orchestra, spoken word & percussion by
Bill & Amy, Mellow Mood, and ambient experimental guitar by Sumako.
There's also a huge outdoor art show, a children's art park, interactive
and hands-on art activities for old and young alike, a short-film
festival, the Taste of Tour, an amazing raffle, and so much more.
Nearly all the events are free and do not require a ticket. Ticketed
events include the film festival, the Taste of Tour, and some of the
participatory art activities. The tickets are cheap, though. Just $10!
With your ticket you can enter the raffle, which includes lots of great
stuff that would look good in your home. Also, by purchasing tickets,
you're supporting the event, and the community. No hard sell, but if you
can drop the cash, you can know it goes for a good cause.
This is not an art walk, or even remotely similar to previous Tour
events. This will be an amazing blow-out event, and I certainly hope to
see you there!
