I need help. How do I make an email link that opens up
the "compose email" box for Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, and
Hotmail?

I want to make all three links and pre-populate the
header with my blog post title, and the body with a
snippet of my post.

Any ideas on how to do this? Currently, I have an
email link on each post, but it opens up the default
email program, which is usually outlook. That's sooooo
Web 1.0. I want to open up the 4 popular web based
email programs.

Peep squidoo.com

It's a tool for what some may call "Structured
Blogging". Instead of writing about a topic you're
passionate about on your blog, Squiddo offers you the
ability to "blog" about it in a more structured way.

There's a spot for text, links, related books and
feeds, tags, photos, etc. Squiddo is more of a place
for writing about a topic than personal stuff.

The structure is easier for readers and search engines
to follow.

The site explains itself. Try it out.

I only created a stupid one about myself:
http://www.squidoo.com/hashim/

The lenses I want to use put into perspective the
latest news events. For instance, I could really have
used a lens about the riots in France because I was so
late to the story and had to dig around for the
context of the story.

The news lenses I want to create (but probably won't
get around to) are about Tookie Williams' death, and
Richard Pryor.

I'm just throwing this up in the air. You can catch it, or let it fall
to the ground.

There should be a Hip Hop Blog Awards. The Bloggies aren't going to
show us the love we deserve, and plenty of other genre/culture
specific blog categories have their own awards, why not us?

Somebody who's more focused and motivated than I am should run with

perhaps some sort of icon should be made for "hip hop bloggers" to display. that way we are easily identifiable, if we choose to be part of that community.

then we can do stuff like awards within said community. just thinking on organizational terms...

After way to much thgought, Googling, and trail and
error, I "invented" a way to get this done. Use this
code in your blogs and it will add a "Gmail This" link
to your page that opens up the reader's compose email
page with the title and link to your post pre-written
for them to share;

Peep: <a
href="https://mail.google.com/mail?view=cm&tf=0&to=&su=<$MTEntryTitle$>
+ '&body=<$MTEntryPermalink$>">GMail this</a>

Check out the "Gmail This" link in action on the
individual posts of my blog.

This code only works for Movable Type/Typepad and
Gmail. Can someone help me rework it for Blogger and
Yahoo, MSN, and AOL mail?

G's lists were all podcast readers. Do they also do just text? I don't
know.

I swear by Bloglines.com. It does what it does, and it's web based.

You can steal from my subscriptions here:
http://www.bloglines.com/public/Hashim . 424 feed subscriptions- I'm a
news monster.

Rojo.com is more advanced, however their speed is slower and the
interface is more complicated.

Both service allow you to upload video and showcase it
on your site for free. Google also allows you to sell
your video.

Who was that on the list predicting that Internet TV
thing? Well, now it's possible.

If anyone wants an expanation why YouTube videos, links, and mentions have been surreptitiously deteted from MySpace, peep this article from the WSJ:

----------------------------------------------

News Corp.'s Murdoch
Details MySpace.com Plan

Site to Revamp Messaging,
Add Free Video Downloads
In Bid to Rival Yahoo, MSN

By JULIA ANGWIN
Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
January 10, 2006; Page B2

News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch laid out plans to turn the media company's recently acquired Web site, MySpace.com, into a full-fledged competitor to portals such as Yahoo Inc.

MySpace, a social-networking Web site, soon will add free video downloads, revamp its instant-messaging program and eventually offer Internet calling, Mr. Murdoch told a media-investor conference sponsored by Citigroup Inc.

Those features are available on major Web portals, such as Yahoo and Microsoft Corp.'s MSN, which dominate both Web usage and online-advertising sales. A portal is a Web site that provides a gateway to the Internet, usually by offering users the ability to conduct Web searches and send email, among other features. Mr. Murdoch said the goal of adding features was to expand the time that users spend on MySpace, increasing the opportunity to sell advertising.

Mr. Murdoch's comments were the first public description of his plans for the Internet assets that News Corp., of New York, acquired last summer for more than $1.3 billion. In addition to MySpace, News Corp. bought Web sites aimed at videogame, movie and sports fans.

Mr. Murdoch said his move into the Internet was prompted by slowing growth rates of advertising in traditional media, and the proliferation of high-speed Internet connections.

The News Corp. chairman hinted last year that he might build a separate portal. A person close to the situation says the company considered using the Fox brand for its own portal but dropped that idea in favor of capitalizing on the fast-growing MySpace.com. Since its launch in January 2004, MySpace.com has amassed 47 million members and in December had 32 million unique visitors, according to comScore Media Metrix. By comparison, Yahoo had 127 million unique visitors in December.

MySpace allows members to post pictures, comments and music free. The site is popular among teenagers and college-age students who use it to meet others with similar interests.

A News Corp. spokesman said soon the site will let users post and share videos. The company plans to overhaul the site's instant messaging to make it more robust, and license an Internet phone-calling service. News Corp. is looking to license search-engine technology, the spokesman added.

MySpace offers streaming videos -- rather than video downloads -- and offers an instant-messaging service provided by an outside firm. In a statement, MySpace Chief Executive Chris DeWolfe said, "A number of new applications and site features are currently in development but we're unable to give further details at the present time."

Despite being a late entrant to the Internet business, Mr. Murdoch took a jab at competitors as being outdated. "The portal model is in danger of becoming out of date," he said. "Young people know exactly what sites they want to go to, and they go there. They don't have to work their way through Yahoo or MSN's home page."

An MSN spokesman said the company's business is healthy; a Yahoo spokeswoman said independent research indicates that more 12-to-24-year-olds visit Yahoo than any other site.

what's good - i just found this group and wanted to introduce myself
and what i do.

i run a hip-hop podcast out of http://www.inoveryourhead.net that
showcases independent acts (almost exclusively hip hop music) between
2 and 3 times a week. some music, some random talk, about 20 minutes
every time. i've played music by Immortal Technique, Edan, Mr Lif,
Sadat X, Madvillain, as well as a million other artists i love. i
like to keep it fresh and always come up with new tracks every time i
do my show, so i'm always looking for good music i haven't yet heard.

the gig i do is independently run, and has been affiliated with
Podshow since last July, the podcasting company that is run by Adam
Curry (one of the founders of podcasting). i have, however, been
podcasting for over a year, approximately since podcasting started
last year in fall.

feel free to check out my site and give me whatever feedback you want
on my blog. right now i don't write that much about hip hop, it's
mostly audio that i do, but that's one of the reasons i'm here, to
learn from you guys and the experience you have putting it on paper.

peace and respect,

jules
