He's cool calm and collective, but most of all rap fans he's
finallyhere. Proud son of the Hawaiian Islands J-Scrilla is the West
Coast'snewest rap sensation. After slamming through every major
party inHawaii, Scrilla came to California and made the Bay Area take
noteimmediately. He battled rapper after rapper on San Francisco's
106.1KMEL with Evan Locke and after winning in his first rap forum,
Scrillawas signed on to Hollywood Records in Burbank under Peter

From the grimy streets of Pine Bluff, Arkansas K-Diamondz began free
styling in high school and made his first mix tapes in college. The new
rap artist got his first lessons on distribution when he decided to sell
his music while he was delivering pizza for Papa Johns. Underground rap
had just reached a plateau in the summer of 2002 and he definitely
wanted a piece of the action.

Why were most new rap artist were only hustling? K-Diamondz was in
college, hustling, throwing parties and hosting his own radio show
"Street Radio." After graduating from college he interned for
TVT records for 6 months and sold cd's for money.

After interning from college he moved to Dallas, TX where he released
the underground classic "Let Me In." Two years later he moved to
Los Angeles to pursue his rap career.

The unparalleled attraction to rap music has not withered, when it comes
to Fidel Cashflow. Hailing from South Jamaica Queens, New York, Fidel
displays an air of charisma, confidence, and clever wordplay that is not
common to most. As a young rapper threatening to unseat his competition
with his brutal and candid delivery, he joined talents with a few of his
peers and formed several groups. But, after a few failed attempts as a
group member and operating solely on the underground, he decided to

comfortable on stage, Fidel Cashflow has mastered "playing to the

money and prizes into the crowd, to having voluptuous and sexy dancers

from the underground is well documented with numerous mixtape

The Truth: An Un-American Idea

After listening to, watching, and reading transcripts of Chicago's now infamous
Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons, as well as other people's comments about those
sermons, the inescapable reality of our situation hit me like a crane falling
from a New York City skyscraper! That reality was that, to tell THE TRUTH is as
“UN-AMERICAN” an act as bombing the World Trade Center. The truth in our day has
been deemed an "enemy-combatant" an "enemy of the state" a "threat to national
security" and a hater of the "freedom's" and "liberties" on which “democracy”
was founded.

It’s time for us to be honest. WHAT PART OF WHAT REV. WRIGHT SAID WAS NOT THE
TRUTH? He said…

“…the Government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a 3 strike
law and then wants us to sing God Bless America…NO…NO…NO…Not God Bless America,
but God Damn America! For killing innocent people, God Damn America for treating
her citizens as less than human…”

Now am I missing something because America (CIA) DID bring drugs into the
country! They DID flood poor neighborhoods with these drugs, and used the money
to finance covert wars on foreign soil and subsequently built a prison
industrial complex that incarcerates unsuspecting ghetto children while making
themselves billions of dollars in the process! All of this might be an
inconvenient truth, but it is the truth nevertheless!!! [See, Iran Contra; Dark
Alliance by Gary Webb; ask John Kerry or visit Freeway Rick Ross at Prison]. The
reverend continued by stating that 9/11 could have been the result of America's
tyrannical and oppressive foreign policy. He referred to this as the proverbial
"chicken's coming home to roost". He said…

“…We (America) bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki…and we nuked far more than
the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye…We
(America) have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and Black
South Africans and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done over seas
are now being brought back right over into our own front yards…”

I’m not trying to be sarcastic but I really thought in 2008 that all of this was
elementary and basic common knowledge. While watching an episode of Real Time
with Bill Maher, I heard Barney Frank say that “it was wrong for Rev. Wright to
suggest that America had brought 9/11 on itself”. Now I can understand why some
people might think that it’s wrong to bring up these very uncomfortable things
because it’s very painful to confront the potential reality of why such a
horrific event could have happened, but in my opinion it’s vital for us to start
dealing with the core and real reasons why people around the world have so many
issues with America. If you can accept the fact that Saddam Hussein was executed
because his “chickens’ of subjugation, oppression, and state sponsored terrorism
throughout Iraq and the neighboring regions had finally came home to roost, it
shouldn’t be considered Un-American for Rev. Wright or anybody else to start
looking at America under the same type of microscope to try and figure out just
what the hell is going on around here. How many American's really understand the
depth of this countries influence in foreign lands - for better or for worse?
How many American's know that "Al-Qaeda" is an American CIA invention? This
group was armed, trained, and named by the CIA in the early 1980's, and used to
help destabilize the then Soviet Union. Guess what, it worked! America’s
so-called “Cold War” or “War on Communism” created the world we are wrestling
with today, i.e., the “war on terror” the ‘war on drugs”, etc.

·        The Cold War was responsible for fueling the illegal drug trafficking
in America beginning when drugs from Laos were shipped to America in the 1950’s
– 60’s and profits from sales financed the arming of allies fighting against Ho
Chi Min. Also, the flooding of African-American communities with tons of cocaine
from South America with proceeds going to finance the contra’s whose task it was
to destabilize the Sandinistas of Nicaragua.

·        The Cold War was responsible for arming, training and financing such
terrorists groups as Al-Qaeda, as well as the Taliban government of Afghanistan.
Believe it or not Saddam Hussein was also a CIA “Cold War” creation.

·        The Cold War was responsible for arming opposing African rebels in the
Congo, thus, giving rise to the current “civil-unrest” in African countries like
Sierra Leone.

I suggest the uninformed American citizen grab him/herself a copy of Mahmood
Mamdani’s Good Muslim, Bad Muslim (Tree Leaves Press, New York 2005). It was
during this same “Cold War” period that Robert McFarlane and Oliver North asked
the Saudis for $1 million a month to help finance their own international terror
campaigns. The two, North and McFarlane, also tapped the Apartheid South African
government for $1 million a month for the same covert terror. Then we wonder why
the Reagan/Bush administration did nothing about the genocide in South Africa
that was at its peak during this time?

You see, after the Boland Agreement that stopped funding for the “war on
communism” the Reagan/Bush administration took two initiatives that all but
destroyed America’s “black” community and changed U.S. foreign policy forever.
According to Mamdani, these were 1) they turned to the drug trade for an illicit
source of funds; 2) they turned to the religious right to implement those
foreign policy objectives that Congress had ruled against, thus beginning a
trend towards privatizing war.” Rev. Wright was, in effect, RIGHT!

Remember Malcolm X made the “chicken’s coming home to roost” analogy famous
amongst us. Malcolm used the proverb immediately following the assassination of
JFK. Brother Malcolm was referring to the fact that America had just
assassinated Patrice Lumumba and had been involved in the assassination of many
other foreign leaders, so maybe the JFK assassination was an example of “reaping
what you sew”, one of those good ole “Judeo-Christian” principles on which
America was built. Today we know that the same American “Judeo Christian”
machine that assassinated Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Lauren Kabila, Martin
Luther King and Brother Malcolm, was the same machine responsible for
splattering JFK’s cerebrum all over his wife in front of the entire
Judeo-Christian world.

Bottom line, Rev. Wright is a pastor whose only crime was telling the TRUTH! He
had no cache of arms stockpiled in the basement of his church, he had no
“weapons of mass destruction” and his church hasn’t and doesn’t receive any
western-union transfers from Osama Bin Laden. The good Judeo-Christian Rev.
Wright simply told the truth, now he’s an “anti-American villain”, who supports
the “terrorist” and the “axis of evil”, [ooohhh…scary], when both these infamous
boogie monsters have “Made in America” sewed in their underwear!

But, even in the seriousness of this public “denunciation” and
disowning/disagreeing with the good Reverend’s “anti-American-rhetoric”, I did
find some humor in all of this. That laugh came from my own hood while watching
black reverend’s from my area play such an agile and rhythmic game of hop-scotch
trying their damnedest not to say what they really felt, something like “Yes…God
Damn America!” It was like that part in the Bible wherein Jesus told the
disciple Peter that he would deny him thrice before the cock crow (John 13:38).
Peter wanted to be down and represent with, and for, the denounced, rejected and
crucified Jesus, but at the same time he did not want the rejection, denouncing
and public crucifixion that came with telling the truth in the ROMAN EMPIRE!

These are Christian pastors who, by all accounts and testaments are supposed to
do “what would Jesus do”. Jesus said that “the Truth shall set you free”.
America was supposedly founded on a Judeo-Christian morality which holds certain
“truths” to be self-evident! However, when Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X,
John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Medgar Evers, Fred Hampton Sr., Gary Webb, and
many others were moved to expound on certain evident truths, they were all
denounced, disowned, messages reduced to rhetoric and assassinated! When certain
MC’s of Hip Hop’s “Golden Era” (Public Enemy, KRS ONE, X-Clan, Poor Righteous
Teachers, Brand Nubians, Ice Cube, Paris, Kam, Sista Souljah, etc.) were moved
to high-light certain truths that they held to be self-evident, the entire
movement was officially “un-officially” banned from the public  domain;
denounced, disowned, message reduced to worthless rhetoric and all but
assassinated?

So, if the countries so-called Christian leaders (white, black, etc.) want to
maintain their positions of no-POWER in the current set-up, they must take the
position of the high priest Caiaphas of Jesus’ day. For it was the high priest
Caiaphas who said that if this man is allowed to continue with his sayings and
works, the Romans will come and take all of our positions in the high places and
destroy what’s left of Jewish autonomy (John 11:41-53)! Needless to say, in
order to keep their positions in the high places, they sold Jesus out even
though they knew he was telling THE TRUTH!

It is a sad day in the world when men are threatened to denounce, disown, and
disassociate themselves with the truth. If men were not afraid to speak truth to
power America would not have invaded Iraq on the premise of an out-right LIE! If
someone in congress or the presidents cabinet would have been brave enough to
publicly tell the truth about Saddam’s “WMD’s”, over 4000 American soldiers and
120,000 Iraqi citizens would not be dead. It was George Orwell that said “in a
time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”.  It was the Apostle
Paul that said “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
(Gal. 4:16)

What’s Good Family!!!

If for whatever reason good, bad, or indifferent you didn’t get a chance to make
it out to the TROC in Philly last Thursday (Nov. 13th) to see Wise Intelligent
launch his “The HEREAFTER” concert series you missed one of the BEST shows of
the year!!! If this is what life is really like in “The HEREAFTER” then I’m all
in…

Please stay tuned for video clips of all the ill performances.

Everybody on the bill gave their all and left everything on the stage! This was
the type of show that you can argue all night about who was the dopest because
everybody was just that good. “The Soundbwoikillhaz’s” were amazing (Dj Slice is
insane on the tables!) and “The 49ers” , “Jah’ Tun”, and “Soulkwest” gave very
strong performances as well.  The Poet Shyster was absolutely sick! He was like
a mixture of Saul Williams and Freddie Foxx. He beat us into submission with
every word that exploded from his soul… Then Def Poetry’s own the super
sensational “Narubi Selah” hit the stage and gave what can only be described as
poetry incarnate. She is without a doubt one of the strongest artists on the
scene right now and is the perfect representation of life in The HEREAFTER. And
if that wasn’t enough the almighty NYOIL jumped into the mix and took the show
to that next level and gave one of the most passionate performances I’ve seen in
a very long time. NYOIL is the definition of an MC and we were all blessed to be
given the opportunity to see this brother do this thing.

At this point the a whole room was electrified and alive with new life and the
new hope that Hip Hop can once again MOVE THE CROWD in a positive and
progressive direction, so when the Legendary Wise Intelligent emerged the crowd
was ready to burst into flames. Wise Intelligent rocked with a live band and
confirmed once again that he is one of the greatest artists that Hip Hop has
ever produced. He proceeded to inspire and inform, educate and entertain and
gave us all a small glimpse of the true power and original intention of Hip Hop
culture. Wise reminded us that the foundation of Hip Hop is rooted in activism
and that we must return to that spirit of activism and community development to
move us forward and beyond these very troubled times.

So if you missed the show you really missed something very special but have no
fear because Wise Intelligent announced that the next chapter in The HEREAFTER
concert series will be on Saturday, Dec 6th @ Liquid Charm in Philly.

S.I.S.T.A., Inc. Holds its First Fundraiser: “Conversation and Creativity”
in December

Philadelphia, PA – Supporting & Inspiring Sisters To
Achieve, Inc. (S.I.S.T.A. for short), a non-profit organization serving
adolescent females aged 11-15 in the southeastern Pennsylvania region is having
its first fundraising event, “Conversation and Creativity,” an
evening of live entertainment, networking and food on December 4, 2008 at 7:00
p.m.  “Conversation and Creativity”
is an event for adult professionals to raise money for the youth programming
S.I.S.T.A. offers.  There will also be
raffles and giveaways at this event.  Ja-Tun, the up-and-coming singer,
songwriter, actress and spoken word artist originating from Central New Jersey
will be the featured artist and mistress of ceremonies for the event. Wise
Intelligent of the Legendary Poor Righteous Teachers is coming thru to perform
and lend his support. There will also be a motivational speaker, live music and
other performances by local artists.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door on the day of the
event.  All proceeds from “Conversation
and Creativity” will go toward programming and enrichment trips for

THE HEREAFTER is a Hip Hop meets spoken word concert series that features some
of the illest wordsmiths on this side the astrological belt; some you may have
heard of and others you will be hearing quite a bit about real soon! If you
missed the first two events you missed an opportunity to glimpse the future.

O.K. now, first I would like to say
that I love Hip Hop and its adherents. I know a lot of us are halfway in the
strip club and halfway in a mosque so I’m going to be polite! When we enter THE
HEREAFTER brothers we can’t be smuggling porno DVD’s into heaven!?!? Yes,
someone wanted to sale porn DVD’s in THE HEREAFTER. I understand your hustle,
but THE HEREAFTER is not a hustle it’s a movement! That move was tantamount to
trying to push pork-chop sandwiches in Muslim Mosque #7?!?! LOL, gotta love the
people…



Secondly, MC’s be on point! Yes you
will be I.D.’d at the door. We are performing in nightclub establishments that
can be shut down for allowing minors into the event; show your I.D. and keep it
moving. When you show up for work, you punch your card and go to work with no
complaints! When you come to THE HEREAFTER and you’re asked to show I.D., just
show the damn I.D. and go to work! Thank you…we are not just rapping people, we
are INVENTING THE FUTURE. The mission of THE HEREAFTER is to create an ongoing
living
democratic culture that compels Hip Hop artists and its adherents to action in
the form of community activism. We are building tomorrow today…help us!



Furthermore, I would like to thank
all the MC’s and Poets who have touched down in THE HEREAFTER and blessed us
with some incredibly life giving performances. A Big shout and real love goes
out to NYOIL, this brother came down from Brooklyn ONE DEEP; and
murdered the jam like a nine member crew. My man is cinematic in every sense of
the word. NY performed bangers like Yall Should All Get Lynched and What Up My
Wigger… His set was straight Classic!



Big Love to Narubi Selah. I
mean, this sister did one piece about a sister in an abortion clinic having
every powerful black ancestor cut out of her womb. Everybody from Malcolm and
Huey to Chesimard
and Mary Bethune were aborted from one sister! It was literally a work of art,
a master piece! And I can’t forget the play on the Frankie Limon “Goodie
Goodie” joint! Thank you sister for giving us a part of you!



I can’t forget the brother SHYSTER.
If you don’t know, just google “Mrs. Betty’s Son” or click on the link to THE
HEREAFTER trailer for a sample of how he represents. “Jesus Shyst” was one of
the titles he used for himself. Shyster is a youth advocate who just straight
school yard bullied our Nov. 13th event. Thank You Shyster, you are definitely
an asset to Hip Hop culture, Spoken Word, Black Culture and humanity in
general. A necessary brother!



To my brother CEE KNOWLEDGE of
the Digable Planet’s, words can’t express my gratitude! The people loved
you (as usual) and wanted more. CEE KNOW put on some joints I never heard
before, had me searching the net for all his new shit! I’ve always been a fan
but Dec. 6 sent me back to when I actually had to have an artists music. We
love you brother, Thank You!

Another outstanding performance came
from ANGELZ INC. (God’s Gang). These brother’s (it was about 7 of them,
you don’t see that many MC’s in a crew nowadays. This was nostalgic and
refreshing) descended on the venue like the gods they were, Held the crowd in
complete awe for the entire length of their set then mysteriously ascended into
invisibility. I didn’t see them leave! I love you brothers, we have to do more
shows together…I’m a FAN! Besides they’re from New Brunswick, NJ the place of
my birth!



To my brother RAHZII HIGHPOWA,
amazing young man, amazing. That Gregory Isaac joint you re-made, with the LL
“Doin It Well” sample is a big, big tune ya heeeeeearrrrrr.  You killed
it, rumor has it that certain sisters in the venue said you literally made the
spot a Liquid Charm!?!? LOL, good thing you didn’t do “Hot Flash”! Keep up the
good work, you’re an original!

before I close out I have to speak on the current tragedies affecting our
community…

The
more things CHANGE the more they stay SAME! Oscar Grant was murdered in warm
blood by an Oakland BART police officer on January 1st 2009, and if
that wasn’t horrific enough on January 2nd, Robert Tolan (son of
former baseball champion Bobby Tolan) was shot in the chest in his own driveway
in front of his parents by a Bellaire, Texas police sergeant after he was
accused
of stealing his own car! I really don’t have any words to describe how I feel
about these latest acts of domestic terrorism perpetuated against my community
but I can let you know that I am fucking tired of this BULLSHIT!
All last year
I heard the word CHANGE pouring out of the mouths of everybody in America who
believed with all their hearts that Obama’s election to the highest visible
seat in the land would usher in a new era of inclusion, diversity, tolerance,
and equality, but obviously that hasn’t been the case.  Now I’m not saying that
one man can turn this
county around in a day but I sincerely believe that until he (Obama) at least
recognizes,
acknowledges, and speaks openly and directly about these cowardly acts of
domestic terrorism the only thing that will CHANGE are the victim’s names…

So
please hit up the show tomorrow so that we can build and come up with some real
concrete solutions because this shit has to stop right NOW!
