Earlier this year the fanatical skateboarder’s days were spent polishing furniture in a Perth factory. Since his landslide win (chosen by a telephone ballot of Australian television viewers to be the first solo Popstar), he’s relocated to Sydney and the only polishing he’s doing is in the recording studio, where he’s helping to add a few more layers of gloss to his debut collection of chart-friendly pop.
Contributors to the album include UK hit-maker Gregg Alexander and Rick Nowels, who penned Scott’s first two singles, as well as Human Nature’s Phil Burton, the UK songwriting team of Cosgrove and Clark and Australian studio talents Nick Howard and Michael Szumowski (Bardot, Disco Montego). The album also features a little more of the endearingly off-kilter musical choices we’ve come to expect from the guy who introduced Leo Sayer’s When I Need You to a whole new television generation during the Popstars try-outs.
The album includes Scott’s covers of the Rick James classic Give It To Me Baby, and a Scott-styled reworking of the little-known Rod Stewart track Can’t Deny It. Also featured on the album are 2 stunning tracks penned by Scott Cain himself - Perfect Day On The Dance Floor. The album 'Controlled Folly' is instores September 30th!
