Hello,

I didn't know Arthur personally but a friend of mine gave me a copy of the
Professor von Schmutzig book many years ago. I do know that Arthur was the horn
instructor at Hofstra University for a number of years and played a little
Broadway. He also played in local Symphonies. He played Man of La Mancha for
many years with my friend....who also passed away almost two years ago. I
believe Arthur stopped playing a few years ago because of an injury. His
students, by and large, were very competent players (I played alongside a few of
them). Most went into teaching. He was a generous man and usually saw that his
students wound up with a good horn to play. He also owned Cor Publishing Company
which is now owned by Wiltshire Music Company http://www.wiltshiremusic.com/ .
I think you can get a copy of the von Schmutzig book there His passing will
affect many people here on Long Island.....and elsewhere I'm sure.

John Anderson
