An alternative (suggested by Farkas, I believe) is to bring along a
comfortable chair. I play with the bell on my leg, and there is one hall
where we perform where the chairs are too high for me. I bring along my own
chair for those performances. There is no balcony, so people in the audience
can't see.
It's not always possible or practical, but it's something to consider.
