I haven't tried it as a transport, but I anticipate it would work
about as well as any other mid fi player. The Phillips transport is
far more solid feel than those on mass market DVD players like the
Toshiba. The power supply and clock circuit are typical of the under-
$1,000 players, but the aftermarket modders do offer an upgrade
package for owners who intend to use it only as a transport, which
includes the installation of a Trichord Research Clock 4 with
dedicated power supply, silver wire to an upgrade Cardas output jack,
etc. With these mods it might be a respectable transport.
