MUMBAI: Bharti Airtel, one of Asia's leading integrated telecom services
providers has presented a mobile phone usage survey called 'Airtel Mobitude
2009'. The survey captures the preference and choice of over 116 million mobile
users located across India.
With mobile music downloads getting more and mroe popular over physical sales,
the report mentions that over 200 million music downloads were completed by
Airtel users in 2009. The study reflected that maximum music was downloaded by
mobile users in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and
Punjab. Regional music was as popular as Hindi songs in all these States.
The report also listed Top five songs in the new and old categories. The song Ab
Tere Bin Jee Lenge Hum from the 1990 musical hit Aashiqui (Music: Nadeem
Shravan) remains the most downloaded track, followed by Kya Batlayein Saajna
(Laal Dupatta Mal Mal Ka), Aur Is Dil Mein Kya Rakha Hai (Imaandaar), Sheesha Ho
Ya Dil Ho (Aasha) and Tumse Milkar Naa Jaane Kyun (Pyaar Jhukta Nahin).

actually the song 'dada paye pori re' was written and composed by Angsuman Roy
so it shouldn't be used by anyone. The reason it is categorized as folk song
because of its resemblance of tune and vernacular used similar to Jhumur songs
practiced western part of West Bengal.

so is this just anothier case of N-S copying A-M (which is a lot if you ask me, A-M, N-S, Anu and J-L seem to copy each other randomly) or is there another source for BOTH the songs? If you ask me, it sounds a bit NFAK, but I can't figure out which one...

Yes, Mere Angne Mein, Eeer Bir Phatte and even Rang Barse have taken inspiration
from the folk songs of UP and Bihar. Unfortunately, the folk songs do not quite
get formally documented, so there is no chronological references that I would be
able to provide. Just relying on the songs I've heard from my grandparents'
generation! :-)

Subject: [i2fs] Mere Angne Mein - a folk song?
I don't know if this topic has been discussed before or not but I was wondering
if the song Mere Angne Mein from Laawaris was actually a folk song before it
came in the movie.
Last night I was watching Bombay Talkie (1970) and they showed a few guys
singing it, same tune, same lyrics. I also read a report which said Amitabh
Bachchan used to sing that song on stage sometimes in the 70s way before
Laawaris came out.
So is it a folk song which was just credited to Kalyanji Anandji? Or does the cd
of Laawaris say something like "traditional"? I'm just curious.

OH WOW good find!! i thought there was something iffy about the "tere haan ka na
main na" song tunewise.
Yeah the intro definitely with the EL Arbi song, sooo many bollywood songs seem
to have copied that song! There was a song in amanaat and mafia.
There's also another song that's copied from it but I can't remember the name,
does anyone know what it is?? the tune of the song is copied from the intro
music of El Arbi. I think it's an anand milind song
P.S doesn't that Aa Chup Jaayein song sound a bit like Bharo from Sabse Bada
Khiladi??

One song in particular caught my attention. The song is "Teri han ka teri na ka"
sung by Kavita Krishnamurthi. The song started with a well know piece from
Khaled's song "El Arbi" and then the first line of mukhra seems inspired by an
old Noor Jehan song "Sanu nehr wale pul te bula ke". Check for yourself.

Do listen to the instrumental near the end of the song (around 4:22), the
resemblance is quite evident there ...

I'd partly lifted, but yeah it's just the mukhda tho. The Ziddi number was
pretty blatant if I recall correctly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJiSSz24VrUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNXJgnfDCqQ
Listen to the beginning. I know the hamesha song is already on itwofs, but I was
listening to the song
"Jeena Yahan Marna" - Mera Naam Joker
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNE10ItOYCU
The harmonica listen at :40
and was immediately thinking of the hamesha song, but that song is a lift of the
anniversary waltz which has similarites with the Jeena song but the harmonica is
a dead give away!
