A new version of Impro-Visor with substantial new features
has just been made available for download:
http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~keller/jazz/improvisor/download/improvisor200.zip
The new features include:
Auto-generated bass lines, drum track, and style patterns (user-modifiable).
Real-time control of volume and playback speed.
Real-time MIDI in and out.
Drawing mode for note entry.
Powerful lick generator (will even generate full choruses).
Improved preferences dialog.
Chord voicings user-specifiable.
Chord voicing audit utility.
Multiple chorus tabs can be loaded.
Tracking pointer during playback.
These features were designed and implemented with the efforts of
Harvey Mudd College research students Steve Gomez (from Dartmouth
College), Martin Hunt, David Morrison, Stephen Jones, and me.
The documentation, including the tutorial, has not been updated yet,
but there are help tabs within the tool itself.
"The Imaginary Book", a chords-only fakebook of jazz and standard tunes
supplied with the release, contains chord changes to over 1500 tunes.
Please let us know how you like it.

Bob Keller
