Version 3.1 of Impro-Visor includes a "harmonic transposition"
feature, which is useful for constructing solos. Simple transposition
moves every note up or down the same amount. Harmonic transposition
aligns the new notes to the respective chords and their scales.
The key bindings for harmonic transposition are given in the Edit menu.
Also vertically dragging a selection with the ALT key held down will
transpose harmonically.
In this release, I changed the scale preferences in the vocabulary to
favor lydian scales for major chords, and lydian dominant scales
for dominant chords. If you prefer, you can use your own vocabulary
with a different preference. Or try both and see if you don't agree
that lydian usually sounds better.
I also posted a version of biabconverter which will create Impro-Visor
leadsheet files from Band-in-a-Box files. It only does chords, and
will not convert melodies. This software is in Perl, and so would need
to be run on the command line (and you would need to have Perl
installed, of course). The original version of biabconverter is
courtesy of Alain Brenzikofer, and we thank him for that.
