This list is a heavily moderated yahoo group and is a forum used as a networking source for independent women in the arts. Men are welcome to join the list if they have something relevant to say about women in the arts. Indiegrrl nonprofit mission is to create networking, educational, and showcasing opportunities for women. We ARE NOT a membership nonprofit. ANYONE regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or political views can get involved with what we produce. Indiegrrl produces festivals and community involved events. We produce a yearly International Music & Arts Conference & Festival for educational, networking & showcasing opportunities. This event is open to anyone to attend both female and male. All stage performance slots must be female fronted. We work to build regional workshops, panel discussions from industry professionals, & networking events to aid in skills and entrepreneurial development. We welcome involvement of singer songwriters & musicians with all genres of music, spoken word and poets, story tellers, comedy, visual arts, film, music production, radio, dance and more. Indiegrrl produces a yearly songwriting contest & a yearly compilation CD project that is used for promotional & fundraising purposes. These events help us fundraise to build on our educational forums & to build a music & art camp for children ages 7 to 17.
