Hope you can join us this Saturday for Grammy-winning Barbara Bailey Hutchison. Thanks to Sharon Gamble of WFYI (live at Penrod) and Doug Housemeyer of WICR (Indy Arts and Entertainment) for helping tell folks about the kickoff concert for our ninth season.
Please don't miss the Indy debut of Grammy Award-winner Barbara Bailey Hutchison (www.bbhsings.com) .She's
sung at the White House (three times) and on hundreds of commercials.
She's been voted "Best Solo Performer," "Best Acoustic Performer," and
"Best Female Performer" in a national magazine poll, so I'd say she's
ready to play the fabulous Indy Folk Series. Saturday, September 19: Indy Folk Series Presents Barbara Bailey Hutchison 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. UUI (Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis) 615 West 43rd St. (Just south of Butler University) Map at www.uui.org www.bbhsings.com $10 (12 and under free) Coffee, wine and snacks available www.indyfolkseries.org
About Barbara Bailey Hutchison What
kind of music does she sing? Good question. Her music defies
categorization. Her lyric-driven, melodic, often humorous, alternative
folk music speaks to issues of tolerance and human rights, as well as
personal relationships and funny circumstances. She writes much of what
she presents, and has gained critical acclaim for her work. Inspired by
experience, hers are songs in which everyone can find themselves.
Dakota
Records, the independent record label responsible for eleven of the
singer's seventeen albums, was started by Hutchison, because she"...
just didn't fit the major label mold", and she wanted to maintain more
control over the content and production of her music.Singer-songwriter,
Gene Cotton, produced three of her CDs including "Reconcile", her
critically acclaimed "Christmas" CD, and a CD for children, "Cat In The
Sink".

Meet Jamie Anderson Touring since the eighties, singer-songwriter-parking lot attendant Jamie Anderson has played her warm and witty songs in hundreds of coffeehouses, concert halls, colleges and festivals in four countries and forty-seven states. She has eight albums including her newest, "Three Bridges ". Her music has been featured on "Good Morning America", the "Dr. Demento" radio show, NPR's "Car Talk", and stations all over the world. Jamie loves being a musician, so she doesn't really park cars, but her mama said she should have something to fall back on.
Jamie's a confused folk singer who dabbles in several genres - witness the fun bluegrass romp of "Felon," the bluesy "Her Problem Now ," and "Drive All Night," an almost-country number. "Beautiful ,"is a tender ballad about body image, and "My Dad Loves to Sing,"about the musician father who is her greatest inspiration. "Three Bridges" is a thoughtful tune about finding strength while"Grace" is a story about two girls falling in love at church camp. Hallelujah.
