Hello, Music Lovers:

Hope you can join us this Saturday for Grammy-winning Barbara Bailey Hutchison. Thanks to Sharon Gamble of WFYI (live at Penrod) and Doug Housemeyer of WICR (Indy Arts and Entertainment) for helping tell folks about the kickoff concert for our ninth season.

Please don't miss the Indy debut of Grammy Award-winner Barbara Bailey Hutchison (www.bbhsings.com) .She's sung at the White House (three times) and on hundreds of commercials. She's been voted "Best Solo Performer," "Best Acoustic Performer," and "Best Female Performer" in a national magazine poll, so I'd say she's ready to play the fabulous Indy Folk Series.

About Barbara Bailey Hutchison
What kind of music does she sing? Good question. Her music defies categorization. Her lyric-driven, melodic, often humorous, alternative folk music speaks to issues of tolerance and human rights, as well as  personal relationships and funny circumstances. She writes much of what she presents, and has gained critical acclaim for her work. Inspired by experience, hers are songs in which everyone can find themselves.

Dakota Records, the independent record label responsible for eleven of the singer's seventeen albums, was started by Hutchison, because she"... just didn't fit the major label mold", and she wanted to maintain more control over the content and production of her music.Singer-songwriter, Gene Cotton, produced three of her CDs including "Reconcile", her critically acclaimed "Christmas" CD, and a CD for children, "Cat In The Sink".

When she lays down South American grooves on guitar, audiences are hard-pressed to tell that Emily Pinkerton is a native of the Midwest. Born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana, her musical education carried her to Valparaíso, Chile, inspiring a decade of immersion in Latin American music. Her latest release weaves these two worlds together in a vibrant, transcontinental tapestry. Kara Barnard to Perform in Danville

(You may remember Kara from a superb performance in a prior season of the Indy Folk Series)

Multi-talented musician Kara Barnard will be the next featured performer at the "Keys,Strings & Other Things" live music series.  The show will be held on Saturday, March 21beginning at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church in Danville.(While the show is held in a church building, it is in no way intended topromote any particular religious point of view.)

Kara Barnard describes herself as "a well-known, unknown, one-woman 4 piece band that fits easily into the back of a small, fuel-efficient touring vehicle".  She began performing as a child along with her parents and sister.  Later she and her sister formed a very successful duo that performed regularly at venues in Nashville, Indiana, recorded 3 CDs, appeared several times on PBS and were the opening act for artists like James Taylor, Wynonna Judd, Dave Matthews, REO Speedwagon and Fleetwood Mac.  Now performing solo as well as touring and recording with some top national independent artists,Kara continues to amaze listeners with her jaw-dropping instrumentation.  She is commonly heard on radio stations from Hawaii to New York and has been written about in several industry magazines including Acoustic Guitar and SingOut. Among her many achievements, she was once recognized as the top female mandolinist in Indiana.  In addition to countless national studio credits and solo performances, she has produced 7 of her own projects, some of which will be available for purchase at the show.

The church is located at 95 N. Jefferson St. one block north of the county courthouse and just behind the Mayberry Cafe. Admission is $10 with children 16 and under admitted for $5.   To learn more abou tKara Barnard, visit her website at www.karabarnard.com . For questions about the "Keys, Strings & Other Things"series, contact Sam Carman at scarman@... ,or phone 317-892-4239.

See you soon, music lovers--and thanks for supporting live acoustic music!

Meet Jamie Anderson
Touring since the eighties, singer-songwriter-parking lot attendant Jamie Anderson  has played her warm and witty songs in hundreds of coffeehouses, concert halls, colleges and festivals in four countries and forty-seven states. She has eight albums including her newest, "Three Bridges ". Her music has been featured on "Good Morning America", the "Dr. Demento" radio show, NPR's "Car Talk", and stations all over the world. Jamie loves being a musician, so she doesn't really park cars, but her mama said she should have something to fall back on.

Jamie's a confused folk singer who dabbles in several genres - witness the fun bluegrass romp of "Felon," the bluesy "Her Problem Now ," and "Drive All Night," an almost-country number. "Beautiful  ,"is a tender ballad about body image, and "My Dad Loves to Sing,"about the musician father who is her greatest inspiration. "Three Bridges" is a thoughtful tune about finding strength while"Grace" is a story about two girls falling in love at church camp. Hallelujah.

David Blonski makes and plays the flute, didgeridoo, Indian flute and a wide variety of world, folk and percussion instruments.  He plays his own brand of cross-cultural, environmental music in a very freeform and spontaneous way, creating a joyful and rhythmic celebration of the world's diverse cultural heritage.  David's music is strongly influenced by his fascination with primitive instruments, most notably the Australian didgeridoo that soulfully embraces the nurturing spirit of Mother Earth.

David often collaborates with other musicians.  In the second half of his In-Didg-In-Us program, you are invited to join David in creating a community musical experience.  Bring an instrument.  Join the Circle.

David runs his own production company and music label, Timeless Productions (www.timelessproductions.com)
